Thankful Thursday

Back at it again! Jeez, I should go back to posting weekly, it's so much harder for me to remember to keep track during my off week.

THANKFUL THURSDAY #688-702
  • The refreshing feeling of deleting people I never talk to in person off of fbook, I went from 914 to 771 and I'm still counting... (that's over 143 people) (and yes, I do know everyone on my list personally)
  • Supportive friends who came out to my open house this past weekend
  • Half off day of work due to a snow storm (which turned out to be a dud)
  • Max Lucado books for keeping me in tune with my religious side and forcing me to think deeper about God's words
  • Plastic tumbler cups for making me feel like I'm not contributing to the garbage daily by reusing my cup
  • Caramel and bananas for tasting super yummy, oh and apples for when I run out of bananas
  • To have one whole year of blogging under my belt, I cannot wait to continue my blogging in the future, it's opened me up to a whole new world that I'm loving
  • Instagram for filling the void where my fbook phone app once was
  • Fellowship of friends during the NASCAR Race Party we hosted, a big screen, some finger foods and some beverages always make a Sunday fun!
  • The opportunity to take a girls getaway vacation this summer, thanks Scensty for allowing me to have this trip paid for and not forking it out of my own pocket book
  • Bible study group for opening my eyes a little wider about the world I live in
  • The phone app Bible.is because it's really got me into the whole getting through the bible in a year, I love the audio version, works like a gem and I'm almost through Genesis already!!
  • The ambition to start operation organization! Let's hope I don't tucker out too soon and accomplish a lot on my list :)
  • A much needed vacation in the horizon
  • A great evening on beef roast and fellowship with my parents. I kinda miss spending time with them so it's nice to have an evening of chit chat once in awhile

All My Ex's Live In TEXAS

Ok but seriously, at least one of them does. Ironically I still chit chat with him on occasion too.

Well folks, I'm off to Texas for a week or so. If you want to get a hold of me you can still attempt to contact me but no promises that I'll reply until NEXT Sunday.... Yup, I'm taking that much time off and I refuse to come home unless the snow melts away and the weather is back to mid 70's. That or until I run out of money. Either or.

Here are some pictures from my last visit. Yup, it was a blast and although T and the kiddos hated taking time to snap shots of us I kinda like it. It's nice to be able to look back and get excited for my next trip! I intend to do a lot more lounging in sweats and strollers, playing at the park, eating cupcakes and petting random fish-like creatures. Oh, and just relaxing. I cannot wait for relaxing!

Since we'll be gone for 7-10 days that means we'll have to plan a couple of activities to do while we're down there. You know what I'm talking about, the tourist-y type things. I've already got a good idea of places we'd like to go but I'm always looking for unique ideas to do while we're down in the Houston/Katy area. The main reason we're going down there is for the Houston Stock Show.

So, if you don't hear from me, don't be upset, I'll be back and let you guys know what we all did down there. I promise this time to follow through and actually update you with what we all did. I'm horrible about following up. I still don't have the last trip completely blogged about yet!

AAAAND, If you live in Texas (or anywhere from Dorchester to Houston) and you're a bloggy buddy of mine by all means get a hold of me! I have this dream I want to live out that includes meeting some of my blog friends so people don't think I'm one of those wack nerds that sits online all day because I think I'm so much cooler online! Shoot me a call, text me, email me, fbook me, find some way to get a hold of me!! We've got a good thirteen hours on the road so a little break to meet up wouldn't kill us. :)

Farming On The Four's

We have new babies!! All of the farm's are filled with new life and I'm so excited to tell you all about it!
Sidenote: Check out this lil guy, he had nose all over his nose so I had to snap a quick shot of him! He's so cute and this is another reason I love photography, because I get to capture little bugs like this. (sorry for the craptastic photo, I'll add the good one later, just didn't have time to upload them from my camera quite yet)

Homolka Ranch has a whole new herd of fainting goats! I'm talking a set of twins, another set of twins and a baby to another mama. FIVE new babies in less than three months?! We love all of them and they're all equally precious. The big barn is cleared out so they love their new home. All mommies and babies are doing great and we cannot wait to get some fun photos of them this summer.

And on the Nerud Farms site, we've got babies galore! I'm talkin baby calves this time though. No goat herding over here, the boys don't find them as amusing and they don't make a profit for them. We got 18 that have already had their babies calves and have four left to have their babies. We're leaving for Texas here this week so I'm hoping they all pop out before we leave so Trav doesn't have to worry about what's going on at home. We've been extremely lucky (knock on wood) that we haven't had any bottle babies yet and we're hoping to keep it that way. As much as I love naming the first calf of the season it's always a hassle for Trav to add more chores to his list. We'll calve out the Dan's in the fall so it works great to not have to fuss with the whole herd all at once.

The seed for 2013 planting season has arrived and is stored in the shed for safe keeping. They're seed dealers for a couple different companies (Garst and Producers Hybrids) so right now we've got a ton of seed we're holding onto. About 3/4 of the seed is delivered so we're not at full capacity but give us time and we'll be maxed out with no room to spare. I'm so excited for the cold weather to leave us alone already and I'd like to start getting some little seedlings ready for my garden. Perhaps start some indoor ones soon in hopes of transplanting them later? Who knows with me and my random antics ;)

Weekend In Review

What a weekend! Not a whole lot of accomplishments per say, but we did do a lot around the house and for once, I didn't have a ton of activities lined up to be bouncing around too.

Friday- We relaxed! A night of nothing felt great, we threw a roast in the crock pot that morning so we just kinda chilled, munched on a delicious meal of beef roast, carrots, taters, onions and home made gravy. I swear, that's the worlds best meal hands down. When I got home there was this precious little baby calf that had a nose full of snow, I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped a shot of him. I'll post it on the farming on the four's post. Then, we ended up falling asleep due to being tired and stuffed. Oh, and I did a little organizational project. Took less than 5 minutes but hey, it helped clean things out.

Saturday- Somebody choose to wake me up 18 minutes (I looked at my clock) before my alarm was set. I took it upon myself to just get up and start my day. I was requested to help move an auger but later wasn't required to help due to the fact that they found someone else to help. Lucky me! Instead I choose to tackle my closet room and get some things into a functioning order. I was really excited about organizing, I always love a good tote or bin :) Then we headed to town for supper with Travis' brother and his girlfriend. It's nice to spend some time with them, Tyler is into racing so the whole summer he's gone and Trav is obvi into his farming/cattle thing so we rarely spend time with anyone the way it is.

Sunday- It's always filled with busy events I swear! Bible study, church, meal prep then we hosted a NASCAR race party at the shop. The party was fun, there were a ton of neighbors and other friends that stopped over and socializing with that crew is always full of laughter. I love playing with all the kiddos and it helps to rid me of baby fever so it's a win/win for all involved.

We're slowly getting laundry done since we're leaving this week for Texas and I'm super excited!! If you live in or near the Houston area (or anywere north of there on I35) look me up! Would love to officially meet a blogger buddy of mine in person! :)

*Oh, and I've almost hit 100 followers! Once I hit that magical 100 I'll do a small giveaway with some Scentsy goodies! Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, just don't tell your friends neighbor  (rumor has it they're weirdos)

National FFA Week

Happy National FFA Week!! I know I'm a little late on this post but it's still well deserved! FFA (Future Farmers of America) is an organization that I joined in junior high because it was a place I fit in. A place that gladly accepted cowboy boots, trucks and rebels like myself. I was a bit of an outlaw as my parents will abide to, due to a rebel like stage I felt I needed to go through. But to me, FFA was more than just a group of hicks, it was a group of friends that molded me into a lover of all things ag. It was an inspiration to major in Agriculture and spread my love of the land to others.

Now I'll have to admit, one of the main people that was always encouraging me was my Ag Teacher in high school. He was always a bit harder on me (I always felt I was the one to get called out when a group of us were doing something wrong) but at the same time, he knew I had the guilty feelings of knowing it was wrong and would learn from it. I loved his classes, he was always finding way to make us laugh (Exhibits A & B, the two middle pictures of us with him, he was always photo bombing everything!) and he was always the one to kick us in gear to excel and do extra projects and fill out more proficiency's for awards or get more scholarship money through ag grants. At the time, we all rolled our eyes, now looking back, I'm super grateful for that lil poker he'd chase us with called ambition. Oh, did I mention that my senior year I spent 5 out of my 8 classes with him? Ya, it's true, he was a pretty cool cat my senior year! :) He really was a great inspiration though in all honesty. Was always encouraging us to do more, to be more involved, to try something new and to work on hitting new levels of awards in all the activities we were involved in.

Another inspiration to my ag love was my dad and grandpa. They always had me out in the grain trucks and tractors with them. I have so many memories of spending time outside with my dad and those memories are ones I'll always cherish. He taught me how to love the land, spend the time needed to make things look nice and truly care about the things that surround you. My grandpa taught me to be patient while sitting in line at COOP and also, that if you give a big ol grandpa I love you smile, you can get a soda and a bag of chips too! Those two men encouraged me to always surround myself with love and laughter, and well, ag and all things that have to do with the country inspire me to love the simplest things in life.

FFA has given me so many opportunities that I otherwise, might not have had the chance to do. I've traveled on countless trips to other schools, other counties, and other states because of contests and to learn more about agriculture. I've got to experience all sorts of aspects of the agricultural world, and I promise there are more opportunities than just farming and working cattle in the ag world. FFA has grown me into a strong, independent woman who knows when to stand my ground and when to allow the soft side to come out.

Another thing that FFA in turn encouraged me to do was to start my Farming On The Four's posts, I mean, they all surround agriculture and what's happening on our farm along with educating all of my blog buddies about how farming operations work and the reasoning behind why we do what we do. My dream job would deff be to get PAID to blog for you guys, to get PAID to educate you on the ag world and what we do to help feed you guys. How cool would that be?!

So, for anyone who knows anything about Agriculture, you'll know the FFA creed. It's what we say about the love for ag and it's a breakdown of all the things we promise to do to promote the love for all things ag. Without further ado, here you go!

Source

So happy ag week my friends! Enjoy a big juicy burger, take a gulp of milk and go thank a farmer/rancher for being an inspiration to us kiddos who are still trying to figure ourselves out in this world of agriculture!

Battling The Storm

So, rumor has it the ice age is coming to Nebraska and we're going to freeze to death....
Ok, so part of that rumor is true, and really the only part is the fact that Nebraska is receiving snow. I know, I fibbed a little and deff over-dramatized it but if you were here right now and saw all the crazies prepping you'd really believe me. Check out that map above, us NE lads are right smack dab in the middle of that junk!

And speaking of crazies. You should have seen Wal-Mart last night! There were people going nuts, NUTS I tell ya! Like the bread, eggs and milk sections were as bare as the turkey section on Thanksgiving! It was bad, and lines were just as long. I was smart and went to the other grocery store because I knew it'd be a mess.

So, if you don't hear from me for a couple weeks, it's because the powers out, we've ate all of our oxen and I've died of starvation and because I had hypothermia. Keep cool friends! (ba-dum-BA!)

Oh, PS, I'm participating in a giveaway over at Light & Sweet, she's a lovely lady. Check it out: a Rafflecopter giveaway

Guest Post: Lauren Loeffel

Ok, gotta introduce you guys to a funny blogger who I seriously love to death. She cracks me up and she's just a genuinely sweet person. Give her a hearty welcome and go check her out!

Hi everyone! I'm Lauren from Tennessee Honey and Kelsey has been kind enough to let me steal her blog away for today! She's such a sweetheart:)

Let me further introduce myself!
I'm not normal. Obvs.
I also talk in abbreviations. (See above)
I'm 24 years old.
I've been married for 4 years.
I have a 4 year old daughter, Kenzie, and a 2 year old son, Tucker.
Oh, and I have a Dobby. He's my Doxie baby.

I'm currently in school full time for my Associates in Early Childhood Education.
In my free time, I love to read, pin my heart out on Pinterest, and watch movies with my husband.
I drink coffee at least twice a day.
I prefer wine over beer.
I love Harry Potter, superheros, tattoos, and most things nerdy.
I constantly struggle with my weight and self image.
Some people see me as shy, but in reality, I just don't have much to say.

I started blogging about two years ago. I've always been a better writer than talker. If anything was bothering me when I was growing up, I would write it down. The words just seem to flow easier that way.
Now, my blog has become a place to meet new people, express my opinions, and as a way to keep up with my life!

Come on over and say hello sometime!
But I must warn you, I'm unfashionable. I don't craft much (or well, for that matter). And I ramble.
Other than that, I'd say my blog was pretty spectacular.
I'm a wee bit partial.
You can also follow me through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest!

Hope ya'll have a great day!

Love My Mixbook

I found this lovely website that I have used for everything. I started out on Shutterfly but soon realized after playing with Mixbook that it was definitely the site for me. You can customize more, there's more stickers and other goodies to play with and I can publish the albums for people to order their own copies with! Plus, they've got a sweet referral program where you can get $10 off your first order just for signing up if you use my referral code.

To give you some examples of things I'm working on right now, remember when I completed that awesome Christmas present for Travis' parents? That Nerud Harvest book was a complete hit and he still carries it around to show people. (preview of the book is below) I'm also working on a Nerud Farms 2013 book that basically consists of all of my Farming On The Four posts off my blog plus tons of other farm shots I've taken. It'll be a super version of my harvest book from last year. I figured that since the first one was such a hit this one would top it and they'd love it even more.

I also created our 2012 Christmas cards through Mixbook. It was super easy, the templates were better than the ones I used to find and they were reasonably priced. Oh and the shipping was crazy fast. I was pleased with them and more than likely will order from them again this next year.

Another project I've started on is a Year In Review book from 2012. I'm pulling together all of my blog posts, the fun photos I took through the year, my most important Facebook status' and even some of my Instagram photos (even though I didn't get into that until this year). My goal is to continue to do these from here on out and watch us grow. The book mostly focus' on just me and Travis and our adventures but I hope that someday we'll be able to talk about weddings, anniversaries, babies and all of the fun goodies in between. It's a work in progress and yes, don't be scared when the price is nearing $100 and you're only half way through the year. Think about it in terms of saving memories. I know if I were to buy scrapbook supplies I'd spend way over that so for me personally, it's worth spending that much on a book. Plus, if you can wait for discounts, then you can get a pretty good deal on them.

And an ongoing project that I will keep adding to until I'm done is my 101 in 1001 project book. Basically I pulled my list of 101 in 1001 off of my blog and made it into a book. It's a fun challenge and I hope to continue it with another list once I finish this one. It'll be kind of like a documentation of all of my lists someday!

Well then, did I give you enough reasons yet to start playing on Mixbook? If not, too bad, you know these things are fun to make and you'd love to have show off books that you don't have to physically create!! Make sure to sign up for their discounts because normally they've got at least one or more sales going on and they almost always have a discount code you can use.

NEW Guest Post Opportunities

I've come to the decision that I'm not going to focus on my advertising sales and will just do swaps for now. If you're interested in paying for sponsorship on my blog by all means your welcome to still. I'll still have the button swaps too of course, I mean, who doesn't love seeing their lovely button over here?! I'm choosing to limit the amount of paid advertising because I don't have a huge crowd yet, I'm hitting well over 140 pageviews a day but would like to gain a little more before charging a lot for advertising. So, instead, I'm going to try something new. I found the idea over at Horseshoes & Pearls and basically I'm gonna spot-light a new guest blogger every other week just like she's doing.

Here's how it'll work:
You let me know you're interested, no cost involved, just wanting to put your name out there and help get us both more traffic. I'll go ahead and have you send me your little write up (anything goes), we'll set up a date that yours will go live and then on that Tuesday I'll publish it! We'll go every other week for awhile unless I get an overwhelming amount of responses. All bloggers welcome, no one is too big or too small for this opportunity!

Don't be shy, shoot me your info and we'll set a date. kelseyhomolka@gmail.com

Thankful Thursday

Ok, back onto blogging and finally over-coming my slump! I've gotta think up a whole bunch if I want to hit 1000 thankful's in less than two months!! I've gotta post 38 a week to hit my 1,000 goal in one year. Think I can do it?! Also, today's the 14th, I've got a couple posts that need to go out today so bear with me on this over-posting day.

THANKFUL THURSDAY #659-687
  • Youth Group kids for finding interest in Lent facts
  • Creating a Gratitude jar that we will contribute to each week
  • Repeat but Pandora radio, I seriously can not be thankful enough for it!
  • Pinterest projects that I intend to someday do
  • The potential of moving sooner than we thought, don't worry, we won't be going far. You'll learn more if/when we decide for sure on a date and that jazz.
  • New recipes that we've tried and fallen in love with, that Runza one is really great and simple
  • Giving out Happy V-Day msgs to close friends and fam
  • Signing up for another 5k fun run with friends
  • The quality pictures my new camera take, love playing with it
  • The passion and dedication that Travis has for his cattle and farm work. He was at the farm until almost two last night due to a calf being born into a muddy mess in the cold. Then he had to finish up a tractor project because it needed to be moved this morning. He's so tough!
  • The income to sign up for two more direct sales companies, no I promise I won't publish all that jazz but I do enjoy getting the product kits, even if I don't intend to sell those products just focus on Scentsy
  • It finally being my Friday! (hello 3 day weekend)
  • Getting to see Trav's grandma on V-Day
  • Finally being in my last quarter of schooling. I submitted graduation applications so now all that's left is to finish up my class and hit the real world! Hello two degrees! :)
  • My bestie for getting engaged! I seriously am so excited for her, I kinda cried when she told me, which was bad news because I was eating tacos and got taco sauce in my eye, which really burned! (I know the story is too weird to be made up, belive me that really happened)
  • Getting to hang out with my Scentsy girls for a day filled with training and fun
  • The ability and self-control to give up addicting things for lent (day 1 in the books and still going strong on the no mobile fbook thing!)
  • Bible.is app on my droid, it's allowing me to do a 365 program to get through the Bible in one year, I'm ahead of time and listening to a couple of days worth of lyrics everyday so it'll be fun to see how far I get!!
  • I'm thankful I can hold my tongue on situations where I want to yell and scream, instead I swallow my pride and all people their time of ranting about me and then I walk away.
  • Finishing up a single tube of Chap Stick without losing it
  • The warm weather, I actually came to work with a winter coat on for once
  • I went out of my bubble and bought a pomegranate. I love the taste of pomegranate stuff so I figured I'd try the re-deal fruit, everyone says they're wonderful
  • New camera lense coming in the mail today
  • Peanut butter M&M's for helping keep my bored eating cravings alive
  • "Be mine" text from dad on vday, of course I'll always be his!

  • Getting back into a running routine
  • Fritos Flavor Twist Honey BBQ chips, ugh, they're my weakness!!
  • Finding love and support through my church family, I really missed them

Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, it's that dreaded time of year again. That one day I used to consider single awareness day but now consider just a normal day that I get to go to work. Me and Travis don't really do the valentines day thing, my thinking is you should show your love year round, his thinking is that he's a tightwad and doesn't want to spend money on me. Ya, we just don't do it. Buuut, I always get something small, this year, a cute little "coupon book" (fitting right?) and a card. I insisted we keep it to less than $20 so it worked out perfect for us both!

And FYI, there's still something jacked up with my Chrome?! I've been using it with no problem for a long time, then on Monday BAM, this happened to it. I can still view under IE but let's be honest, it's just not as cool as Chrome. Here's my problem, everything is on the left side and the html coding is messed up. Links don't work, the tabs that should be on top are all on the left side. Then, once you scroll all the way down to the bottom you find all the stuff that should be on the right hand sidebar... And, it's not just on my blog but when I go to view other people's blog as well. I can't enter into giveaways and I cannot comment :( HELP!! At first I thought it was just my blog until I noticed it on other's as well. I went into layout and here's what I get:
Ya, I don't even get the option to move it over. It's almost like blogger itself is causing this issue? I swear I haven't done anything with my layout in forever so I don't get why all of a sudden it's doing that? I tried going into the templates and changing the format to the three column back even that didn't help?! HELP!!!! I'll attach a picture of what my blog looks like to me so you get the idea.
Is this happening to anyone else besides me?!?!

Lent

Lent is a 40-day period of fasting and repentance in preparation for the celebration of EasterIt has been observed since apostolic times as a period of reflection and penitence for those who would be baptized on Easter, and a time for all sinners to repent. Lent was originally observed for six weeks excluding Sundays (36 days), but this was eventually extended to 40 days in order to parallel Christ's temptation in the wilderness. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (six and a half weeks before Easter). In the early history of the church, strict fasting was observed throughout this period. One meal was allowed per day, in the evening, and meat, fish, eggs, and butter were forbidden.

So, the next question is, do you, as a Christian, celebrate or "give up" anything for lent season?
I've been throwing this around for awhile and I've come up with a couple of things I'd like to "give up" for lent. At youth group I did a huge lesson on lent and we dug a little deeper on what lent was all about. Upon finding out more info I've decided this year for lent I've "giving up" two things and I'm "taking up" two new things.

My first thing I've giving up is my Facebook app on my phone. No I cannot give up Facebook completely because I do a lot of communication with business things on there but I do need to give it up via mobile because it's consuming my daily life. It's too convenient to hear it go off and check it out. I'm always on it, the minute I get home from work I check it, during commercials of my tv shows I'm checking it, right before bed I'm checking it. If I'm forced to go to a computer to pull it up, that's a lot more work (and I likely won't take the time or effort to start up my computer). If something is that important that people need to get a hold of me they can get my phone number and go ahead and text or call me about it. Another reason to give it up, I can fill that void time doing housework, focusing on my boy and doing more fun projects to share with you guys! And the final reason I feel it's ok for me to be on there less, because I blog! Meaning I share my life through this place. If they care about me, they'll take the time to type in my blog addy. Instead of being forced to see me in their news feed they're really have to think about me and come find me.

The second thing I'd like to give up is my constant nit-picking of other people. I've challenged myself to not talk about others when friends bring up someone. Example: "Did you hear that Sarah put on Instagram a picture of her partying at this bar." or try this one "I don't like Tom because he's constantly talking crap about Sarah." Ya, I typically would respond with "Ya, did you see the other picture Sarah posted of her dancing ON the bar, the bar tender said he could have gotten in huge trouble for it." So, here's the point, I need to stop constantly contributing to that junk!!! Everyone has feelings and everyone deserves a chance. Keeping from being judgmental can really change not only my attitude but the attitudes of others about me.

And now for the positives!!

One challenging one I'm wanting to pick up is to do more core workouts. This is something that is really hard for me. I struggle with wanting to do these types of workouts because I've never had a solid core ever since back in 2005 when I was in a car accident. Long story short, I shattered some vertebrae and since then I lack using my core. I suppose you could call me lazy but I never get around to really strengthening them enough to help with my back issues, I always burn out half way through building them back up. I'm going to challenge myself to start doing at least 1-2 days for now and hopefully work myself up to more workouts later. I think this is a no-brainer and to most might be super easy but for me, I'd rather be out running than worrying about stupid core junk. But, that's where my biggest "issue spots" are so I need to hit them head-on, stop finding excuses and just start. Oh, and no those gorgeous abs are not mine, but I'd like to think that I could maybe someday take a picture like this and post for all of you to see! :)

Another fun one to pick up is reading the Bible every morning on the way to work. I know, you're thinking girl you're nuts, you can't read and drive. This my friends, is where audio books work wonders! There's a couple apps out there and one of them includes an audio Bible. I installed it and placed it where my fbook app once sat. Intentions are to listen to a couple versus daily on my way to and from work. Cool right?!

Ok, so I confessed my lent ideas now you tell me yours! Does anyone else have any fun things that are sucking their lives that they're willing to part with? I'd love to hear from you guys about what you're doing this lent season!!

PS- Is anyone else's blog jacked up?! On I.E. it looks fine but when I look at mine (and other peoples blogs) on Chrome it looks all sorts of jacked! HELP!

Runza Casserole

Wait, what's that? Never heard of a Runza?!?! You're only missing out on one of Nebraska's biggest secrets! ;) Here's something similar, but they're faster and easier to make. And they help with my sour kraut cravings also.

Runza Casserole
Ingredients:
2 lbs lean hamburger
1 cup onion, chopped8 ounces sauerkraut8 ounces mushrooms (or less if you're picky)1 cup mozzarella cheese1 cup cheddar cheese8 slices provolone cheese2 (8 ounce) cans crescent rolls

Directions:
1. Brown hamburger with onion and season to taste. (I usually use salt, pepper, and minced garlic), then drain. Add back to pan and add sauerkraut and simmer for 5 minute.

2. Spray 9 X 13 pan and then add one tube of rolls to bottom
3. Top with hamburger mixture.
4. Add mozzarella and cheddar cheese
5. Add mushrooms (I only was allowed to do half, someone insists they're gross)
6. Top with provolone slices.
7. Top with remaining tube of rolls
8. Bake at 350 35- 40 minute

Simple easy and SUPER tasty!! I promise this will be a hit in your house :)

Weekend Review

Sorry I've been in hiding. I've got some posts in my head but have lacked ambition to write them out. I blame it on the nasty cold and a slight case of winter depression. Let's hope it fades soon, I'm tired of being tired!!

Friday- We had a girls night. Dolly Parton fan club meeting and making snacks for a friend's husband's surprise 30th birthday party. Then, we brought all the goodies to the bar and decorated. It ended with some hilarious rides on a little scooter that Margo had for her surgery. And taking pictures with our friends. (not that we're "hugging" them, not groping them)

Saturday- I got to finally see my besties house in Fairbury! She had a Mary Kay party so I got to see her pretty house that she bought a year ago. So happy for her and the house is gorgeous!! Then, we helped celebrate a friend's hubby's big 3-0. We enjoyed an evening out with friends but I always hate coming home late. I wish we could have an extra two hours of sleep if we stay out past a certain time. Fair right?

Sunday- This was deff a "God's Day" in the books. Spent the morning at Bible study, then church, then home to work on finding some fun lesson plans for the meeting then a youth group meeting and then home to finish up some homework that was due that evening. If that day wasn't spent focusing on God then I don't know what is!? I love spending time with my church friends and nothing is more important than that.

Here's hoping for a good week, let's all pray that I finish up some fun posts that have been sitting in drafts and publish them for all my friends to see!

Liebster Award

Eeek! I just want to say that I've come a long way in less than a year.  Now, a year later, I've been blessed to have sponsors, met many new buddies and have been nominated for the Liebster award! My first "award" on my blog ever!! How exciting right?!?!?!
I really do feel so surprised and blessed to have such awesome blog buddies who consider me for these types of awesome awards. The best part, I was blessed with TWO buddies nominating me for this award. TWO!? Can you believe it? I sure can't, I'm still jumping up and down with a little grin on my face! Thanks you again Rachel from Rachel's Country Roots AND Demi from Country Life With A Front Porch View for picking me. I have honestly fell in love with your blog and this just puts the icing on my cupcake! :)

Rules
This award is given to new or up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers...the award is then passed along to other bloggers in the same category to help spread the word and support one another. What to do: 1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves. 2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to. 3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post. 4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award. 5. No tag backs.

Random Facts:
1. I actually have won several titles/crowns before, I was the Southeast Community College homecoming queen, the Wilber Czech queen and the Nebraska Czech Queen Runner-Up, oh and the Wilber Czech Princess back when I was like 10ish. Along with being blessed with receiving a community award, the Lady of Libuse award, it's given to those who help out the community. Cool eh!?
2. I have a slight CDO (OCD in alphabetical order) issue and I'm constantly finding myself freaking out over small details that most would overlook. I have to have my t-shirts in ROYGBIV order, my hangers all have to face the same way, my cart is arranged according to isle when I go grocery shopping, my totes all have to be matching, my grocery store in the basement has to be in order at any given time and I freak out over unorganized coupon binders.
3. I have a stuffed animal, his name's Larry, I've had him since I was about 7 and I still sleep with him. He's traveled with me everywhere, was even on my grandparent's bedside when they passed away and has soaked up millions of my tears. Anytime a major life event happens or we go somewhere special he gets a new addition added to him. He's even got him own blog, go check him out, Hairy Larry's Lion Adventures!
4. I over-analyze everything because I'm a constant worrier that I don't want to upset someone. You don't say hi to me? Jeez, what did I do, perhaps by saying I liked that shirt it made you mad. You didn't invite me to Friday girls night? Is it because I didn't send you a text yesterday because I was busy? You get the idea.
5. When I was younger, me and my two cousins created a "Lisa Frank Club" we were pretty B.A.
6. I have self-confidence issues when it comes to dressing myself, I always feel like my outfits don't work and I'm constantly jealous of those ladies who can look like a million bucks and pick statement outfits.
7. I have been hoping that someday I will be a parent of twins, I've obsessed over it since I was in high school and beings I'm always up for a challenge it just seems fitting (I'm sure someday I'll regret it but for now, it'll be in my dream world that I'm wanting two babies! That and I'll keep pinning pictures of what my future twins will need/dress like)
8. I constantly have a countdown calendar with how many days until Czech Days in my head, and on my phone so I can reference it at any given time. It ranks right up there with Christmas for my favorite holiday.
9. My closest friends are the ones I had during high school, I still talk to them weekly and I refuse to move away from home because I'm scared I'd miss them too much. They've always made it a point to get back together as much as possible and they're always the ones that I can have a good laugh with.
10. I actually have two college degrees, my agribusiness degree with a focus in crops and an business admin degree with a focus in insurance.
11. I've secretly always wanted to be a farmer's wife and do the stay at home thing with kiddos. Perhaps it'll always be a dream, perhaps it'll be a reality. Only time will tell!

Question Answering from Rachel's Country Roots
1.What is your favorite beauty product? Deff would be a toss up, Olay lotion, Tresemme dry shampoo and definitely mascara
2.What made you start blogging? I honestly, started this little bloggy blog only to keep my dad and close family/friends up to date with what I've been doing and mostly as an outlet to stay off of fbook. It was consuming my daily life and I felt overwhelmed with the fact that if I didn't log in at least a couple times a day I'd find myself with an hour or two of catching up with things I'd missed.
3.What is your favorite music? I was born in the wrong era. I'm in love with classic and 90's country. Top fav's include but are not limited to: Dolly Parton (given), Dwight Yokum, Merle, Reba, Chris LeDoux, Martina, Garth, TayTay (Swift) and my guilty pleasure would probably be anything by Johnny Cash

Audrie, she was honestly one of the first people I really got to know in blog land and the fact that we could potentially meet up someday is so neat, she only lives a couple of hours away from me! Plus, through her, I met a ton of my other buddies I've gotten to know really well!
7.What is the craziest thing that has happened to you? Ha, you wouldn't believe anything I'd tell you anyways, but one would probably include the time that i had a seizure from tetracaine. It's the medicine they use to dilate your eyes when you go to the eye doctor. Evidently I'm allergic and had a drug reaction from it?
8.Where is the farthest you have traveled? I went on a 14 day tour trip to Europe and traveled through six countries, Czech Republic was obviously my fav because it's where my family is from! Deff wanting to go back someday.
9.What are your favorite shoes to wear? Rocky cowboy boots or my Adidas tennis shoes

11.What do you drive? White Chevy Taco Tahoe

1. What is your #1 pet peeve? I'd say it would have to be chewing with your mouth open or not putting things away when you're done using them
2. Who is your biggest inspiration? I'd have to say stay-at-home mommy's who manage to operate a blog and make a profit for it, I'm so jealous that you can do it all and bring in a little dough to help out your family, I can only hope that someday I'd have that opportunity to stay home and potentially make a small income from direct sales world or blogging
3. What is the best part about blogging? It's a way for me to let you, my followers, see what I'm up to! I love telling you guys about our farm life and from what I've gathered you guys enjoy reading about it. That and I love to show others how couponing really can save you bu-coo bucks if you really try to put effort into it
4. What blogs do you read everyday? Oh boy, besides the ones that I'm nominating below I'd have to say I've got a ton of others I like to keep up on, ready for this? Till The Cows Come Home, Horseshoes & Pearls, A Farm Wife's Life, A Small Snippet, Dandelion House, Delightful Order, Farmer & The Bell, First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Come The Baby In The Baby Carriage, For The Love of Beef, Fort Western Stores, Going With The Flow, IHeart Organizing, Just A Small Town Girl, Mama's Got It Together, Nugget On A Budget, Sippy Cups & Pearls, Sugar, Spice & A Dash Of Advice, With Style & Grace... (ok so that's not all but I don't want you guys to get bored with my lists)

Guest Post: Rebecca Wyatt

I'm so excited when Becca agreed to guest post on my blog! She's a sweetheart and she really has encouraged me to branch out of my blogging realm and try new things. I've really expanded and have learned that networking is so rewarding and I owe it to her! Today we're doing a lil swappy swap, she's on my blog, I'm on hers! It's like we're still blogging for the day but not on our own blogs. Without further ado, let's welcome Becca and let her introduce herself to you!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi y'all!

I'm so excited to be doing my first guest post here at Keeping Up With Kelsey! Kelsey is awesome as we all know, she's so sweet and I'm so glad I found her blog. Thank you Kelsey for swapping blogs with me for the day.

My name is Becca. I blog over at Faith Love & Babies, my blog is about being an army wife, a new mama, random tidbits about my life and the things I love. I blog because it's a creative outlet and a definitive way to keep me on the path of becoming better. A better me. A better wife & mother. A better friend. Just an overall better person in general. I love to give advice and share things that I'm passionate about. I'm still fairly new to the blogging world but I absolutely love it and enjoy meeting other bloggers!

I'm 21 and became an army wife when I married my high school sweetheart, KC. We got married in September of 2012 and a few months earlier, we became parents to a precious little boy, named Wyatt. We also have two fur-kids; Cinnamon and Lucy.

Meet KC, he's a solider in The United States Army, my very own personal mechanic, my best friend and just such a good man. He will make you laugh, I promise you that. He's goofy, quirky and has such a kind heart.
KC & I at our wedding.
Mr. & Mrs. Moss
Meet Wyatt, he's eight months and he's the happiest baby I've ever met. He's literally always happy, unless he's hungry or fighting sleep, because then he's a bear. Being a mommy is the best gift and the most rewarding thing I've ever experienced. You can see how much he has grown from the first six months he's been here in this post right here

Meet the girls; Cinnamon & Lucy. Back in 2010 KC & I rescued Cinnamon as a puppy, we believe she is a Lab/Beagle Mix. She's got a long body and short little legs. And as for Lucy or as we call her, Moose, she was in a litter of puppy's my brother-in-law's dog had, we got her in 2011. Moose is a Bull Mastiff/Boxer Mix. She does not like the snow but she loves to cuddle.

As for me, I'm a simple girl. I love the color yellow, and anything pumpkin. Colorful paper clips at work, the occasional margarita and of course some football (who-dey!). I have a positive outlook on life, I believe that there is always something to be thankful for, I truly believe that "Faith Conquers Fear", that everything happens for a reason and that all things are possible.

Come on by Faith Love & Babies and say hi, I'd love to meet y'all!

Want to know some more facts about me?

Farming on The Four's

So much has happened, that I've got to update you with. I'll make it short and quick if possible so I don't bore you too much!! Here goes:

We've had a TON of fog here lately. What's the old wives-tale something about 3 days, 30 days or 3 weeks after fog you can expect a rain? Eh well whatever it is, I'm expecting some fabulous moisture which we can all hope (and pray) will help get us out of this drought we're in!! Here are some neat shots I took of the cattle on one of those foggy days. Can you guess whose mamma that one little babe belongs to? ;)

We went on a cattle drive this past weekend. It was a blast! One of Travis' friends had a cattle drive and we were lucky enough to be invited to come along and help out. They had to move about 600 head of cattle about 5 or 6 miles down the road. It was a big deal, closed a highway off and everything for it! There were about 13 people on horseback and several others that came and helped out. Here are some shots from it...

But, my all time fav shot of the day was this one. It's just too cool, I wish I would have a better lense for my camera. If anyone's willing to donate, the lense is around $400!!

Oh and did I mention that we've been having babies like crazy?! A set of twins was born on Saturday as well, they're super cute and thankfully mamma decided she wanted to keep both of them. No new bucket calves for us. Here's a snapshot of little miss Dolly and her friend Dwight, they're getting so big already. Dolly's standing in front, she always loves to be observant. Dwight, well he just lingers in the background and occasionally gets enough courage to come check me out. I love how Dolly is getting some brown in her, look at her little tips on her ears, they're brown. She's such a doll!!

On another note, as if you didn't already watch the Super Bowl and see the viral video this is my number one pick of commercials  not only did it send out the message and awareness of the hard work the farmers put into their career it also high lighted my fav brand of tractors (red), Mr. Paul Harvey, the FFA and also, it showed the world that WOMEN are involved in agriculture as well. Check it out!!

Weekend Review

Sorry for being away for awhile. I've been stuck in a major slump and really un-motivated to post goodies for you guys. So, in hopes of pulling myself outta that slump I'm going to do a weekend update.

Friday- After work I did my lame Friday night routine of grocery shopping/couponing. Then I stayed home to work on a huge homework project that was due Sunday. It was a two hour movie on Enron and the ethics behind those involved in the fraud scandal. Extremely boring and I ended up only getting half way through the movie before 1 am. Decided to throw in the towel and get some shut eye, had to be up and productive in the morning.

Saturday- Oh what a fun day! We helped our friends and participated in a cattle drive. Read more about it on my Farming On The Four's post. Then, we headed up to Western (the town) and went out to eat for my Grandpa's 88th birthday!! After we left there we swung through Dorchester for Faith's 21st birthday at the bar. It was of course fun and I'm so glad we spent a little time with friends socializing. On the way home we swung by and checked on the cows, two mama's had babies that evening.

Sunday- This was maybe my favorite day of the weekend. It was my dad's birthday so after church we took him out for dinner. Then, me and Trav headed up to Lincoln for a little bit of shopping. We stopped at The Fort to use up some gift cards we had sitting around and I fell in love with a couple pair of boots. Travis really needed some new boots but I really thought I needed some more. So, if you're ever looking at getting a gift for me, a pair of boots will never be turned away. And if you need specific ideas, these are the exact ones I want:

Pretty much any pair will do. They're all work boots so I promise I'll use them. The Twisted X's I really want aren't in stores but here they are, I've tried them on before in the store but I see they're on back order until Feb 2013. The first pair is a bit dressier but at the hefty $175 Travis insisted I did not need them. The second pair I've been drooling over for almost two years now. They're gorgeous, I love them, but I'm not a major fan of the pink. They've got a super comfy bottom that is almost like a tennis shoe. And the final pair, ahh, Rocky's. If you couldn't tell I'm an avid Rocky fan and these are exactly like my last pair. I'm currently wearing something similar from Tony Lama but they don't do justice compared to my love and comfort in Rocky's. Let's hope I can get one of these bad girls someday soon!!

After we got home from shopping I got to work on a paper that was due at midnight. I cranked out a total of seven pages, plus finished up my Enron movie in less than 3 1/2 hours. Ya, I'm a procrastinator but hey, I got it done and handed in on time, with a half hour to spare!!

Oh, and also received TWO offers to do reviews and sponsor posts, I feel like a big timer!! Can't wait to fill you in with more information in the near future friends :)

Guest Post: Demi Spencer

Let's give a big hearty welcome to Demi. I've stopped over at her porch several times and she's an absolute sweetheart! I love that she's so down to earth. Don't forget to stop by and say hi to her, let her know you found her through me too!!

Hi y’all! My name is Demetria {Demi for short}, and I blog over at {Country} Life with a Front Porch View! I’m excited to be here @ Kelsey’s place chatting it up with you all today! Kelsey was one of the first blogger friends I made when I entered the scene back in December 2012. She’s super sweet, and I love having her as a friend! She comes and sits on my front porch quite often. We share some great times over there! *sighs*

Let me see here …. a little bit about me :)

I was born and raised in a small town in western Tennessee. I still live 10 minutes from my hometown. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Nathan, and today is actually our anniversary! We have been married for 7 years! It’s still hard to believe that I told all my friends at the age of 16 that I was going to marry that boy one day. Funny how little things like that work out, isn’t it? We have one son, Logan and two animals that are like children to us: our basset hound, Chloe and our tabby/calico mix, Precious.

Why I Blog …

Writing has always been a passion of mine. I was the editor of our high school’s newspaper and yearbook for two years. I enrolled in college after graduation in hopes of becoming a great writer one day while holding down a double major in Journalism {News/Editorial} and English! After my son was born, I withdrew from college to start a life and never made it back to finish out what I thought was paradise in my book. It was going to take too many years and too much time actually spent on campus for me to graduate. I couldn’t handle it all working and commuting and raising a family. I did, however, get two degrees while I worked via online courses: I have a Medical Coding and Billing degree and a Pharmacy Technician degree!

After years of struggling to make it in this world and a ton of hard times, I’m now a stay at home mom. I must admit, I love every single minute of it! Before I gave up my full time grocery store job, I was working 6 days a week pulling hours that encompassed a day shift and a second shift schedule. I never had time to spend with my son or my hubby. I was constantly staying up late at night to spend time with my dear hubby and then waking up early to get my son off to school and trying to spend as much time with him as I could before that point! It hurt me so much to have to divide my family like that. While other people were out spending the weekends with their kids and taking them places after school events, I was running back to work never getting to enjoy the little things. I wanted a way out of that nightmare, and I took the first opportunity I had! It wasn’t so much by choice either but by a boss that didn’t realize what he had until he let me walk out the door. Oh well, it was for the best!

Back in early March 2012, I met an amazing woman online, Amanda. She was working on running a business like no other to help people from every walk of life. She already had a small business that was dedicated to helping stay at home moms make a living online, but she wanted more! Later that year, I teamed up with her and 6 other great minded ladies, and we began creating our dream from the ground up! Those months I spent with her up all night were challenging as we put together “the” website of our dreams. I valued Amanda as a friend and a boss. She saw my potential and was shocked to know that others threw me to the sidelines. As I helped her build a home for us online, I slowly began making a name for myself in her book as well earning the title as TBM President. Sadly, our dreams were shattered in December 2012 when Amanda lost her life while delivering her baby girl. It was a shock to us all. None of us were prepared to lose her or our company.

After everything happened with Amanda, I realized that I had what it took to make it on my own. I had run a few online shops before but never made enough to consider it a career or even a job! So, closer to Christmas, I began drawing up ideas in my head as to what I could do to change the world. I knew it wouldn’t happen overnight and that I would have to work extremely hard at it if I wanted to succeed. I’m happy to say that almost 2 months later, I have a pretty good thing going over at Country Life. Sure, it’s not life changing, yet, but I love the direction it is taking! I’ve already been fortunate enough to help out a friend and her business. That’s something I didn’t think would ever happen. Silly me, all I had to do was put my foot in the door and ask! I’m also learning more about things as I go while blogging about my life and the things that make it so special to me! I’ve had positive feedback that means the world to me, and I have made some great friends! I couldn’t ask for anything more. I might not become a millionaire, but I’m happy!

There you have it folks! The story of my {blogging} life! I hope that you will stop over at my front porch soon and let me offer you some good ole southern hospitality!

Be sure to hop on over and "like" Country Life's Facebook Page so you'll never miss an update and chat with me directly!

From my front porch to yours,
