Bestie Bloggy Friends Forever ((aka BBFF))

Alright, it's confession day. And the top of the list is that I must confess I have some of the most hilarious and caring blog friends in the entire world!!! Don't believe me. I'll give you some examples of how I know I love them to the ends of the world and VOW to meet them (soon).

EXAMPLE #1

It got real serious real fast that day. No biggie, we're here to accept each others flaws and I'm totally open about my life. Don't judge, it was really hard to share it with you guys, but I think you should know the entire conversation was a COMPLETE JOKE... well parts of it were. Like wearing gloves.

EXAMPLE #2

Yes, this too is a serious thing. Snapchat has taken over my life. I find myself doing a crap ton of selfies and I'm not even ashamed about it. I think if you watch Twitter you'll see that we've had wars on Snapchat before. Pretty much, I take the most random, Rachel takes the best faces (I'm a close second) and Chelsee has the best videos and eye rolls. We all have our good points and I like to point them out!

Oh and the unwritten rule, anytime Wrecking Ball comes on, you must drop what you're doing, no matter where you're at or whose watching and snap a video of you jamming to it. People can judge your life but they can't judge how hilarious the video is or how off pitch you are.

Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus on Grooveshark

EXAMPLE #3

Thank the mothers of Friehelm and Bernard for birthing such genius sons. Texting (I googled it and that's how I knew their names) might be one of the easiest and quickest forms of communication with these ladies and even more so, Handcent works just fab for group messaging with the lads. I have to laugh with how connected we are. We talk about the most random crap, and Chelsee has some insane stories about her crappy dating experiences. I feel for ya girl, but really, psyco!!

So, in light of recent situations that have happened to all three of us I can for sure say that they know about me and my life than my friends here at home. Chels has been there to listen to me then tell me horror stories of her own and for that, I can never thank her enough. It's nice to know someone has been in a similar situation!

And Rach, well, she's off the grid. And for extremely tough reasons. I love her and I haven't the slightest clue how to comfort her. I just want to travel all there way to Madison and comfort her with hugs and as much love as I can possibly offer. You're a strong woman and I have faith that you will find God's love in your life soon. Sometimes the unknown are the scariest of times but seek comfort knowing that you have a huge community surrounding you with love and support!!!

Although it's hard to make really close friends that live thousands of miles away I really truly feel I have successfully accomplished it!! Some of the things these ladies know and the amount of time I spend spilling life to them is more than some of my friends and neighbors know! I have a crazy personality but to know that they're ok with it and embrace my crazy side is the best.

In Memory of Dax (Rachel's Nephew)

First off really quick, anyone who donates will get a FREE large ad for the month of November on my blog! This is a great cause and I'm willing to go above and beyond to help out my blog friends. Rachel is going through an extremely difficult time and I want to help!

If you haven't heard yet our blog buddy Rachel Silski from Madison, West Virginia over at Rachel's Country Roots had a tragedy in her family. Her nephew, Dax, was killed by a fatal gunshot wound. You can read a couple of the news articles circulating here or Dax's Obituary if you'd like more information on it.

The reason I wanted to reach out was to ask if you'd be willing to help. Dax's mom doesn't have life insurance on Dax so right now the family is trying to put together some money so they can have a funeral for the twelve year old son. We're putting together a large lump sum of money that will be donated to her family and would like to include you! We're going to be donating it as "your blog friends" or something similar and then possibly include first names of individuals if you'd like.

To donate I'd ask that you paypal the money to me: kelseyhomolka@hotmail.com

Please select "gift" so there are no charges on the transaction. Also please put in the note of the paypal transaction that it's for Dax and then let me know if you're wanting to remain anonymous or have your first name listed as a donater to the cause. The amount you donate is up to you, if you can afford even $5 that will make a HUGE difference to the family.

If you'd instead like to find your own way to reach out and let Rachel know we're thinking of her you're welcome to go to the In Memory of Dax Dixon website and donate yourself! We're just wanting to round up a group of people instead to show her that as a blogging community we choose to support her but by all means please just do anything you can to help. We will be making the donation by the end of the day tomorrow as I know the funeral plans are set for Friday.

Rachel is also donating any profits from her store, Country Couture, to the fund so please order something if you'd prefer to do that instead by Friday!!

We as a blogging community are extremely close and when something this close to home happens to one of our friends we look out for each other! We want to help Rachel's family as much as possible and I know Rachel's family appreciates any effort or amount we give them.

Thank you again for supporting Rachel in any way possible! If you'd like to reach out by sending her a card let me know and I can get your her address as well. I know a couple of us bloggers were wanting to send her some "thinking of you" gifts or cards so I can get you that information if needed.

FaceCreeping Gets Me Everytime

I was recently inspired by Megan from Make It Count and her post about Facebook. Basically she sums up her use of fbook over time and explains on ways she thinks she can improve on her addiction. Well, I feel I need to do this as well. I've been saying for quite awhile that I'm way too addicted to social media and the toxic waste pit of "over-sharing" has become evident when a couple friends wrote me up for social media citations...

So with these citations it's made me really think and take a couple things to heart.

A. I don't need the entire world knowing what I'm up to. It's OK to go out with friends and not find things to update the world about. My friends are mine, if you want to know what we're up to ask us. We'll more than likely invite you in on the fun and then you can see the memories being made in real life instead of through a still life photo or status update.

B. "likes" aren't meant for popularity. They're actually pointless sometimes. I know I get caught up in how many likes a certain photo, status or share gets and I'm starting to realize that those things aren't important. Just because someone on fbook says they "like" it doesn't necessarily mean they do. Most are being fake and using the rule of thumb "like for a like" and are actually doing it just to make you think they care.

C. The constant scrolling to get to the last status update you saw so you make sure you don't miss out on anything should not be a priority each morning. I'm guilty of this, it's part of my morning routine and I hate it. I hate dreading scrolling through everything that happened between 1 am (I go to bed really late) and 9 am the next morning. Nothing good ever happens after midnight and most people just "share" inspirational quotes.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Alright, now that we know what I don't like about my habits let's go about making myself accountable and doing something about it. Here is my call to action on some simple and tiny deets I'm going to focus on to help improve my addiction issues.

A. Limit myself and my postings even further! I've set a rule into place about only one post per day but it's time to limit it down even more. I normally only post pictures and even more rarely post inspiration quotes. You have to give me a break because I am a photographer so at times the photo over load does happen but I try to keep it at bay. I'm an admin for over 8 "like" pages so I do often post on different outlets at least once a day. I'm getting better at scheduling posts out but I admit sometimes I cross-post them to my personal timeline in hopes of getting a bigger audience to view them.

B. Don't focus on what others say about my posts. Sometimes I get negative feedback about activities I might be involved in. I need to learn not to take it so much to heart. Yes I love Christmas music, but does that mean you need to remind me that it's too early in the year to listen to it? Nope, it's my facecreep and I'll post it if I want to. In fact:

Hard Candy Christmas by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton on Grooveshark

C. No more catching up after midnight. I honestly think this is the new rule that I will struggle with the most. I'm a big person on the "I can't miss out on the action" stuff so for me, this will be so tough to not know what my friends are up to. I realize I need to just let things go and not thrive off of knowing other people's business and this seems like a good step in the right direction! I'm shutting down at midnight, no if's, and's or but's about it my fbook will be off. I know the notifications still push through on my phone but I'm ignoring them! If anyone knows how to shut them off at a certain time, help a sista out!

D. Time to cut it down!! I currently have 804 friends. Now in my defense yes I know each and every one of them (wow I have a lot of friends) but I very rarely talk to even 1/4 of them. Most are high school friends, college classmates, Czech acquaintances or relatives but I do have a few blog friends thrown in there. I need to get it under control and start eliminating these people though! Most of my college classmates I didn't even talk to when I was in college so why keep them. I'm going to start with those who I don't interact with and go from there. Now don't get me wrong it's not a bad thing to have too many friends but to have that many people on facecreep that don't interact with me seems silly, most just keep me to see what I'm up to or tattle to others on things I'm doing. You don't talk to me. You're gone. Simple.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, now it's your turn to help me. Hold me accountable if you see me out snapping a ton of pictures and saying "oh I can't wait to share on fbook." If you see me posting a status or inspirational quote stop me. (That's what Pinterest is for right?)

I blog for a reason, that reason is to have people come and specifically check up on me. You have to type my blog addy into the URL to find me. You can't scroll through a newsfeed and be forced to see me, you must take the time out of your day to see what I'm up to. I truly feel as if I need to focus more on my blog and getting quality posts about my lfie together than updating some social media site that will fade out soon like MySpace. Besides, when I look back in ten years, I want to have a place to call my own, a place to reminisce and smile knowing all of my memories are captivated into one location that describes all the success and failures of my life. A place to call home.

Sunshine Blogger Award

Eeek! I'm so excited to be nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! It's been awhile since I've been nominated for anything so an occasional award to remind me that I'm "cool" enough or "inspirational" enough to other bloggers is always a boost of confidence.

On another note: Chelsee and Rachel have the worlds BEST Snapchats known to man. I love learning about blog buddies via real life situations and finding out that they're not actually catfishing me makes me feel a little safer reading their blogs. I kid you not, having snap wars is hilarious! We've got to somehow find a way to market these conversations and sell them, hello side income!! If you're on SnapChat add me: kuwkels but just don't be that creeper than sends me random screaming-into-your-screen Wrecking Ball videos (cough Rach), well actually, please do!!

1. Include the blog button in your post or on your blog (I usually add the button to my "featured" page so it'll link back to +Chelsee W and you can read her post as well)
2. Link up to the person who nominated you (Yay Chelsee from Southern Beauty Guide)
3. Answer the questions provided from the person who nominated you
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive this award. Link the nominees to the post letting them know you've nominated them)

Questions for Kelsey:

1. If you could be in any tv show, what character would you play? -Alright, not fair! I watch waaaay too much reality tv so I can't really "play" a character but instead if I could choose a reality show to go on, I'd probably choose Big Brother since I do, after all, do a link up with +Rachel S and it's dedicated to our thoughts on the weekly events. If I had to choose a movie, it'd probably be some type of sappy love story where the girl ended up getting the guy and they lived happily ever after. Ya, the movies that make you cry and eat ice cream. That's what I'd star in :)

2. What is the number one thing that you wish you could change from your past? -Umm, I've made a couple of mistakes in my past, but to be honest, I'm a believer in the theory that God puts us in those situations to learn and inspire us to do things different in our lives. I can pinpoint one moment in my life that was extremely tough the summer before my senior year, I truly believe that through that situation I learned that the Lord has a purpose for me to serve him through being active in my community and church.

3. What is your best piece of blogging advice? -Stay active! Don't fall off the map like me for a month and expect people to stick around. I had some loyal friends (and I love them for it) but some people I was in constant contact with stopped talking to me. And never underestimate yourself, the number of followers doesn't matter, blog from your heart and the followers and connections will eventually flow.

4. Are you pro or anti-vampires? -I don't believe in those creepy things! As a matter of fact, when I think of vampires I think of Count Dracula from Sesame Street. So in this case, I'm pro-vampires!

5. Have you attended a Blogging Conference and if so, which one? -No and I'm dying to go to one! I have been wanting to find one to attend since I started blogging but I never know about them until after my friends attend it. Next time you followers find out ones coming up you better let me know!!

6. Who are your top three favorite blogs to read? -Seriously? I have to pick just three? I'm not doing it, nope, you can't make me! ( +Rachel S+Chelsee W, +Stephanie Samuel+Brin Hopeman+Sandra Koll+Amanda Barstow you ladies know who you are, no need to do a ton of shout outs for somethin like this)

7. Cats, dogs or both? -Umm, glad you brought it up! I currently own a dog and a couple cats, and honestly, I'm allergic to them. Don't get me wrong I love them and I play with them often when I'm outside, but if a cat scratches me WATCH OUT! I will break out and start sneezing like it's my job. Just keep the critters to a minimum and I'm a happy camper.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve? -Probably someone chewing with their mouth open, people seeing my messages and not replying, or the a-holes that want my help but I don't even get a thank you outta the deal.

9. What is your current favorite song or movie? -Right now my fav song is Wrecking Ball (don't judge) only because anytime I hear it I freak out and grab my phone to snap it to Rach & Chels. Otherwise anything Dolly, probably Hard Candy Christmas, or 9 to 5. And fav movies, Hangover or I Love Lucy.
9 To 5 by Dolly Parton on Grooveshark

10.  How excited are you that I nominated you? -I peed my pants, flushed them down the potty, ate dog poop, licked a wrecking ball, and then I roared at the top of my lungs while Katy Perry sang to me.... Ok fine, yes I'm excited, that's a rhetorical question!

Bon Jovi Concert

So as most of you know due to my over-posting on all my social media networks I went to the Bon Jovi concert on Sunday. It was a blast! I hosted a giveaway for a Girls Night - Bon Jovi Style and was also given two tickets to use and go with a friend. <<Insert me jumping up and down excited>>

I asked my bestie Mo to go with me. It just worked out perfectly, it was her birthday the next day so I figured it'd be a fun little way to celebrate and go out! We decided it'd be best if we took off early and went shopping, ate some supper and then headed over to the concert.

And we did just that.

We shopped our little hearts out, and when asked what my name was to put on my dressing room I proudly boasted "Sara" and acted like it was totally my name. Own it I tell you!! Then, it was time for a SUPER YUMMY SUPPER! I'm not sure how excited I was for this at first, it's been years since I've been to Hu Hot but I was all in and ready to test the waters. I'm proud to say that I love it and have intentions of attending again soon!!

Then it was concert time! We were excited when we found out our FREE tickets were actually good seats! We met up with Nicole and her sister and we were ready to rock it at Jovi!! I think the fact that we had three of us classmates together was so fun too. I mean, honestly, what are the odds!??! And that guy in the picture above, I had to take a picture of him, he was sitting there with his wife, soaking in the concert while eating popcorn. It was the cutest thing ever!!!

Oh, and Mr. Jovi's keyboard player took the stage and stole the entire show (in my eyes) when he pulled out an accordion and played a couple tunes for us! I was so excited about this part of the concert that it put the annoying lady next to me screaming the entire time to shame. I wasn't even bothered about her after I saw the accordion!!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to go to this concert and I want to send a HUGE shout out to GNO for sending me. Thank you so much for this opportunity! You made me a happy camper and for that you're too awesome! Now, how do I find the contact information for the Luke Bryan people? I wanna a personal meet and greet and for Luke to shake his Thun Thun Thun in my face ;)

Weekend Review

I was really busy this weekend. I'm going to just post a quick update on the weekend and then go into detail on other posts. For example, I did a 5k and also spent quite a bit of time of the farm in tractors and combines. The 5k results will get their own post, and Farming On The Four's will fill you in on the rest of the farming updates. Instead, I'll just give you an Instagram recap of the weekend. Short and simple :)

1. Lil Friday night action happening in the big red combine. Ok, legit no action but you know what I mean. First day of corn harvest is about 3/4 of the way done and we haven't sunk in a mud hole yet!
2. They're trusting me to drive the combine! Eeek! Nerud Farms might be my new career path ;)
3. Best place to get some reading done? Buddy seat of the combine! I loooove harvest
4. It is way to early to be packing the race bag! Whoever plans a race where I need to leave home by 6:15 and it's 34 degrees out is nuts. Bett yet, whoever participates in these races is even more nuts! Wish me luck!
5. T-Minus half hour until race time. Here we go!!
6. Course was cut short but it was a blast!! Felt good to get out there and log some miles! Whining about the temps didn't help because once I started I was fine. On another note; I'm gonna be sneezing blue for days...
7. Life on the farm. Hands down it might be our busiest time of the year but I love it. Spending time in the combine is great but I do much better feeling like I'm actually helping so I'll sit at the end rows and wait for him in the grain cart and tractor.
8. You know you have photog problems when your Tahoe cup holders are used for your camera and lens' instead of for drinks. Ahh, such is the life!
9. Lil shopping and Hu Hot time before seeing the Big Bad Bon Jovi! Eeeek!!
10. Mr. Jovi himself reppin it on stage! WooHoo :)
11. Jovi had my heart until his keyboard player pulled out the accordrion and played a couple tunes for us. Get off the stage Bonnie Boy, the curly haired feller stole the show!!!
12. Thank you bestie for coming to the Bon Jovi concert with me! I couldn't have had a better time with anyone else. No one else has stuck around to deal with my crazy personality longer than you. I think it's partially because our dads grew up together and raised a rukus in high school and then had us first borns less than a month apart. That may be the reason we're so close but I'm not 100% sure. Oh well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So, in a nutshell, that's what went on this weekend. Farming after work on Friday, running a 5k in the morning on Saturday, then helping to harvest more corn. Then Sunday was filled with shopping and the Bon Jovi concert. It was an absolute blast! I love weekends that are busy being filled with memory making activities!

Give And It Will Be Given To You

Checked out my app, "Daily Bible Verse" and today's verse basically has summed up my emotions about current situations in my life perfectly!

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." -Luke 6:38

So what does that mean to me? It means I have been patiently waiting and praying for so long in hopes that my prayers will be answered. I need to stop asking and just throw my hands up and yell (out loud for good measures) that I'm giving up and that he will be the one to give me what he wants when he's ready. He's waiting for the perfect opportunity to open up and is just making me strong enough right now to handle everything at once.

Have you ever seen or heard about those camels that have so much they're carrying that one single piece of straw will break them. Well, that's me right now! I feel like I've had everything thrown at me and I'm fully loaded down but I know that I'm strong enough to somehow handle it, that one day some I will be able to look back and laugh and say, "Wow I thought it was a lot back then, look at all that I have now!" I know that day's a comin, it just has to!

Duck & Dumpling Run

This one should be a fun recap! It's the 5k run I ran in August at Czech Days. If you'd like to read about it, go to the link Czech Days Re-Cap. Otherwise, here's what's been going on and how I did :)
Like I said before, I got an hour and a half of sleep the night before this run so I was obviously exhausted, but if you notice this is kind of a reoccurring pattern when it comes to me and my runs. Meh, it's my life, my blog and my sleeping habbits, imma do what I want!
I got there to check in and tried to explain to the high schoolers running it that I needed a race bib number with a five in it. Doesn't matter where it's at, I just need one! They didn't cooperate and I ended up without my luck number five. I was kinda upset about this for quite awhile! If you haven't paid attention I've always had a five in my race bib numbers, always. Like every single 5k race I've ever participated in I have a five in my number. 1053 - 45 - 81695 - 56 You see the pattern? Ya, I was super sad. But moving on...
I was excited to see I had several family members show up to run this race. It's kind of become a fun "tradition" for us ladies to get up and run the race. Usually in the past year's I've been too hungover to run it but this year I told myself no more excuses you're going to run it. And I did! I got up with NO sleep and I didn't even complain too much. It was more of a bragging right to say yea I can party all night and still survive and push through to run my 5k.
So little Miss Kyla insisted she wanted to run with me. I was totally fine with it. She was excited to run, I was exhausted and I figured we'd be on the same playing field considering she doesn't run and attempt to stay in shape as much as I do. I love Kyla (and all of my little cousin's) to death and getting to spend time with anyone under the age of ten is considered fun to me. I just love their quirky personalities, their spunk and ever-positive attitude with life. Small kiddos have no worries in the world besides asking their parents if they can have that bunny they saw at the carnival, or if Santa will be coming before or after midnight. It's so simple, and I love it!
So me and Kyla took off heading for the city limits and hoping for a speedy 2 miles down and back on highway 41. Once we cleared the starting gates Kyla said she wanted to hold my hand the whole time. Now, I've never been a runner with the knack for holding hands while attempting to run. It was difficult but I didn't want to disappoint so I just worked with it. Kyla was so silly and she'd take off sprinting and then stop saying her legs needed a rest. I tried just keeping a routine pace and let her get behind then sprint ahead. It worked most of the way there and halfway back.
I've listed my race results below, I'm not thrilled about my times but considering I was out the night before and had minimal sleep I give myself a pat on the back and vow to continue to focus on tomorrow's race. There will always be hardships associated with running and pushing yourself. The thrill I get from running is logging those miles and pushing myself to do better than my last goal. Encouraging myself to log more miles, try for harder average paces and even build myself up in hopes of completing a marathon (in the future, far in the future) is what it's all about. I'm a thrill seeker and to most this isn't a thrill but to me, it's a place I call all my own. I earn my own bibs and I race for myself. To prove to me that it is possible!
While on the course we met many other locals that we knew. The teachers, the city officials, a couple of daycare friends, even some of "grandma's" co-workers were mingled in the course. It was fun, I love running along side my community members and watching all of us encourage each other! Working together as a community to do events like this makes the experience worth it. I'd pay $500 if it meant I'd see so many of my friends, family members and community work together with the goal of staying active and healthy.

Farming On The Four's (10/14/13)

I'm sorry, my manners suck. I have about 8-10 posts in drafts from the past three month's worth of Farming On The Four's but I just keep finding reasons not to post them, so right now. In this moment. I'm holding myself responsible and forcing myself to make this post. My pictures won't be added right away so stop back this evening to see them but ready or not I'm diving in head first and this WILL be published on time.

We're currently working on finishing up soybean harvest. We've got about 1/3 left on beans and then we'll be ready to jump in full throttle into corn harvest. I love this time of year but at the same time I dread it. With harvest comes cooler weather, with cooler weather comes snow. With snow comes a crappy attitude by yours truly. I'm trying to stay positive trust me I am, but it's just tough.

Yesterday we were on our final field of beans, we knew it'd be close and with the Co-op closing at 5pm we knew we would only have the semi-trucks and the grain carts to fill before we'd be done for the night. The struggle for us was the frustration of knowing we were so close to be done with soybeans but the rain was going to keep us out of the field for awhile. We finished what we could but everything was full so the boys went home for the night and we prayed the rain wouldn't keep us out for too long.

Speaking of rain, we've been blessed lately with off and on showers. Everyone says this year we'll have a hard winter and to be honest, I'm kind of excited about it if it means I get to stay snowed in and we don't get those pity little 1-2" snowstorms. But, for now, I'm ok with rain. I love rain, I love hearing it pelting against my windows, and the smell of moist air is so refreshing! A rainy day is a farmers day off so in that sense I'm equally excited to see what Travis has in store for this evening!

The cattle are dropping babies like hotcakes here lately. Like I said, when the weather starts changing the cattle have a tenth sense and know when to start having calves. This is a favorite for me because when Trav is busy hanging out in the combine I get to go and check up on the babies. See how many new ones we have, how many still need to calve and just do a general wellness check on everyone to ensure no mama's or babies are hurt or missing. In general everyone is usually fine but there will be the odd occasions where someone goes missing and then I report back to the general about it. He goes and checks in the morning to confirm or deny my requests and then we proceed from there.

Travis was pretty excited to try out a new (and much bigger) draper head for the combine. It was a 35' header so that meant the combine we bought this last year was too small for it. The dealership brought out a new combine and the head for Trav to play with and I think he was in Heaven with it. Now we're not really necessarily needing a bigger combine because some of the ground we farm has terraces and a bigger machine just wouldn't work but he is wanting to get a new head to use for beans. The one head we have is four years old so it's been around for awhile. Some of the bigger farmers in the area trade up equipment every year but we try to hold onto ours a little longer. I know the technology is constantly improving and resale value if you keep things longer goes down but we'd rather not be in debt every year so sometimes keeping what works and saving for bigger and better in the future is a good thing. In our case, we'll test our luck and use what we've got for this year and possibly trade up in the future.

I'd like to add a note asking if anyone would be interested in turning my Farming On The Four's into a potential link-up in the future? No specific requirements for the link-up besides it be farming or ag related. This could include recipes for cooking garden goodies, veggie updates, cattle posts, and of course the obvious farming updates. Would anyone be interested? If so, I'm going to offer a co-host up for grabs each week as well so we can get more exposure! Meaning you could totally be in it and help too! Let me know your thoughts by filling out the form below, I have collected a bunch of my aggie blog connections and have tried to email them so if you've already filled out the form ignore this and don't re-submit it :)

Liebster Award Round 3

Eeek! How thrilling to get through THREE rounds of nominations?! I loooove knowing that others think highly enough of my blog to nominate me, but to be nominated so many times? It's gotta be pure luck right? I've actually been nominated by these ladies quite awhile back but the post got buried in my drafts section and never got finished so I figured I'd finish it up and post it for you lovelies to see! If you missed it, here are round #1 and round #2. So here's who my most recent ladies are that have nominated me:

Connie over at Frugal Living on the Watkins Ranch
Heather over at Every Girl Like Me
Stephanie over at Puddles of Sunshine

Rules:
This award is given to new or up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers...the award is then passed along to other bloggers in the same category to help spread the word and support one another. What to do: 1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves. 2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to. 3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post. 4. Go back to their page and tell them about the award. 5. No tag backs.

My Random Facts:
1. I have an obsession with unique mason jars
2. I don't mind running, but I'm terrified of weight lifting work-outs
3. My favorite season is fall, I love dressing up in comfy hoodies, skinny jeans and boots
4. I recently started a photography business, Dirt Road Photography (surprised?!)
5. Although many friends consider me stylish I do not know a thing about fashion and trends, I often change my outfits several times because I'm so indecisive and I don't know what looks good
6. I have an addiction to CamelBak water bottles and own 5-6 at least... I try to hide them when I buy new ones otherwise I tend to get yelled at for bringing another one home #sorrynotsorry
7. I often find myself running for fun, I try to log 30 miles a month but sometimes it doesn't happen, others it's over 30. I love it!
8. One of my guilty pleasures is reality tv, think Teen Mom, The Little Couple, Big Brother, Gold Rush...
9. I can play a musical instrument, the trumpet (not many friends still know how to play their instruments they played in high school, and further more, don't play today)
10. I currently own more pairs of tennis shoes than high heels...
11. I can wear whatever I want to work and I spend my entire day with two mutts (Chandler and Whitney) they like hanging out in my office with me

Connie's Questions:
1. What is your favorite holiday? -Czech Days Christmas, I love giving gifts, attending church services, listening to loud Christmas music and wearing my ugly Christmas sweaters.
2. What would your ultimate vacation be? -Probably head back to the Czech Republic again. Oh how I long to take a vacation and head there with Travis just once!
3. What's one thing you couldn't live without? -Materialist thing would be my Bible and phone (but I have an app with a Bible so that can kinda count). Non-material item would have to be social time with friends. Person, Travis and family.
4. If you won a million dollars, what is the first thing you would buy? -(answered it above but here it is again) Buy more farm ground, use some for improving our house we're moving into, spend a small amount on a pretty new wardrobe and put the rest away to build up a bigger cash value that I could use later to buy me more toys. Oh, and I'd use a little bit of it to re-design my blog and put some ads out on other blogs.
5. What is your least favorite thing to do? -DUST!!!

Heather's Questions:
1. If you could only shop at one store, where would it be? -Hands down Kohls. I love that I can find anything there!
2. If you could swap lives with someone for a week, who would it be? -I'd probably choose my boy, why, because he gets to hang out all day and work at home on the farm. That or I'd choose so stay-at-home farmers wife, just to get the feel of what it's like to do the mom-helper-to-hubby game.
3. What is your biggest fear/phobia? -Frogs, spiders, lizards, worms, toads, birds, snakes and any other reptile.
4. Name one thing on your bucket list and why it is important to you? -
5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? -In five years I see myself as married, living on the farm and pursuing an ag career. In ten years I see myself doing the stay at home mom thing and practicing the farmers wife helper career. Potentially blogging full time if I'm lucky too?
6. Who is your biggest role model? -Er, think I answered this awhile ago? Probably my dad, that or my ag teacher in high school who really helped to kick-start me wanting to pursue an ag career (yup, I answered this question already, I remember it from Round 2)
7. What is your favorite TV show/Movie? -
8. If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be? -Devotional, Compassionate and Enthusiastic
9. What is your favorite childhood memory? -I'd say it probably would be something related to Czech Days events with my family or just hanging out around the farm with my dad. I was always "that kid" who was wanting to do things with my dad or acting like a farmer.
10. If you could travel/live anywhere, where would it be? -Czech Republic hands down. I'd love to go back some day and just visit the smaller towns, maybe even hunt down some long lost relatives to see if any of my family is still around the area?
11. If you could give any advice to new bloggers, what would it be? -Never give up! I may get frustrating to see your friend followers not be as big as other bloggers but just keep posting content based on what you want to share. Don't try to copy other people's ideas, be original and be you. Others will follow along eventually and make sure you're genuine when making friendships with other bloggers. A couple good friends will mean more than a huge following crowd!

Stephanie's Questions:
1. How did you pick the name for your blog? -Well, simple enough, I'm constantly running from here to there and everyone is trying to keep up with me! Between my photography business, my Scentsy business, my Thirty-One business, my blog, being an active member of my Chamber in town, running the youth group, and helping on the farm it does get a little hectic so I'm always in the fast paced lane in life.
2. If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why? -Great question! I'd choose to be a stay at home mommy, but most of you already knew that.  I would choose it because then I could really focus on my kiddos (future ones that is) and raise them as God-like creatures children who have the manners of a queen. Mostly because I want to instill right and wrong in my kids for myself, I want them to be raised with love and compassion. That and I want free farm laborers ;)
3. Would you rather compete on The Amazing Race or Survivor? -Tough one. I'd choose The Amazing Race because I love traveling and seeing the world! I always said that was so cliche but it's true! I'm dying to go back to the Czech Republic and I vow to make it there someday (hopefully soon). Traveling is something I've grown to love, maybe it's because it's constantly something new? Adventurous!
4. What inspires you? -So many things inspire me I cannot limit the list down to just a few. I'm inspired most importantly by God and my Christianity faith. Everything I do I try to focus on what God asks me to do. I know I stray off occasionally but that's ok. Everyone does and thankfully the Lord forgives us for that. Secondly, I'm inspired to be a better me, to leave a footprint in everyone's hearts that says I was caring and compassionate. And a couple of other inspirations are my family, friends and my love for agriculture and photography.
5. What is your secret talent? -I'm beginning to think multi-tasking like a beast might just be it! But other than that, probably discovering that I loved photography is something I never would have guessed I'd be good at.
6. If you could change your name, what would it be? -DUH! Sarah Chudacek! Read more about my alter ego in my Czech Days Re-Cap post :)
7. When did you last laugh and why? -Last night! I was cleaning off the dining room table and look over to talk to Trav and he does this insane dance move. It was a side shake as I'd like to call it, he then proceeded to cook supper. I laughed asking him what that was and he claims it was his turrets setting in again. He's not typically a person to make those moves so it made it that much more hilarious!
8. The app used most on your phone is? -According to battery life the most used (in order) include: Gmail, Facebook, WeatherBug. Not too shabby but you've gotta include Instagram, Dots, Pandora and RunKeeper as well!
9. What's under your bed? -That's a great question and I really couldn't answer it because I'm not sure. Mostly dust bunnies, a pair of old socks and maybe a missing slipper. Nothing too exciting!
10. Before you started this survey, what were you doing? -I was working on re-starting my computer to update my dang software. Stinky :P
11. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? -Hands down Kohls or Scheels. They're so freakin addicting!!

Lincoln Okto Beerfest ((Worth The Headache))

Today I'm keeping it short and sweet. Mostly because I'm hungover and partially because it's Friday and the only thing on my mind is 5 o'clock and my bed.

So, the Alumni Band was asked to go play at the Okto Beerfest in Lincoln. Basically it's a beer tasting event and they invite a couple local bands to come play. We of course always bring out the biggest band and we are always the wildest band, creating a rukus, sampling umpteen millions types of FREE beer. We like to have a good time. In no particular order I decided to dump a lot of photos on here to give you a feel for the night. If I have them on social media sites I'm just going to pull my caption off there so some might get pretty funny!

1. Heeey boys, it's me, Sara!
2. A Snapchat that was sent to my gal pal Heather (her Snapchat said "A treat from the principal")
3. This guy was getting wheeled around on a cart while he was sitting on a chair because he had a walking boot on, I being the oh-so-friendly person that I am, hopped on and went for a booze cruise with them for awhile
4. Oh, you know, just takin some photos of me with my button, Sara Chudacek at your service!!
5. Random guy I was needing to get a picture with....
6. Trent!! He borrowed Cassie's flute to play us a tune
7. Another random guy, my thinking was that I needed a crap ton of pictures with people to add to my new Facebook profile
8. Yup, that's me at work today. Non-productive and in shades until about an hour ago. Did I mention I'm wearing sweats right now? Facebook quote exactly: I got to work (late) and I have no intentions of doing anything productive, today. I'm poppin the gatorade and wrapped up in my blanket. I may or may not still be drunk? Yup, it's gonna be a long day with 3 hours of sleep... Note to self: next year take the day after Beerfest off. Is it 5 yet? #hangoverssuck #aintevenmadaboutit #aintnobodygottimeforthat #yeeeooow
9. I found the emergency fire exit on the bus, and you bet your bottom I climb out it, I even grabbed a horn and totted a note or two while up there!!
10. Facebook quote: Just one of many photos taken last night, Tickle off the show Moonshiners made an appearance at Beerfest. Unfortunately he didn't have any moonshine with him. Thank goodness this even is only once a year, I just can't handle it the next morning!
11. This guy was attempting to put date rape pills in our beers. (ok not really but let's pretend)
12. Cheers to Beerfest!

As if those aren't enough photos I've got a couple more I wanted to share with you guys!!! I'm laughing at some of those pictures, some I totally didn't even really think were funny at the time but looking back it was totally worth getting the pictures. The stories that will get told and the amount of people I'll show these pictures to are so over the top!

1. The bus ride up to Beerfest, we were preppin for a good time. But, as most would agree, ain't nobody got time for that!
2. Facebook quote: As the fog is slowly clearing from my brain I'm finding more and more hilarious photos in my phone! Check out this lovely guy. If I remember right I think I said, "Can we get a picture with you? You're pretty!"
3. We had a little swap-oh-roo party when we piled back onto the bus and tested out each others instruments. I suck at tuba, I can somewhat play the sax and I shouldn't even attempt the drums. But I rock at slamming the drum sticks together!!
4. Our number one fan! She loved us, she was hoopin and hollerin for us when we got there.
5. Legends of Clatonia is our new stop for Alumni Band trips! Shots were enjoyed and gracefully accepted by most, those who didn't take their shots, me and Shelby took care of theirs...

Now do you get my point? Last night was too much fun. I'm paying for it today and I'm mad at myself because now I more than likely won't go out and run tonight but it was worth it. Whenever we get our core group of players together we have fun. I love how our band consists of all ages of "adults" and no matter the circumstances we always bring a good time. We were approached by a couple of different groups to ask if we'd come play for them at other events and I cannot wait to see what's in store next for us!

Thankful Thursday

There are so many things in my life that I'm so grateful for and trying to remember to write them down is getting tougher, I need suggestions on an app that I can add all of them too on a daily basis.

THANKFUL THURSDAY #851-862
  • Finding new fitness buddies to keep me motivated and on track to lose a few pounds and firm it all up
  • My blender bottle for keeping me sane, I think I've finally found one water bottle I love more than CamelBaks. So does that mean I can justify buying another one, or two?
  • A surprise birthday gift from my boss, hello shopping spree :)
  • Cheese Dates with my bestie, we usually go out to eat and then go to Wally World, where I then proceed to buy 10 lbs of cheese to last us through the next week and a half, yes, we eat a lot of cheese in our household #dontjudge
  • Pinterest for having my wedding planned before I'm even engaged
  • Chopping away at some pretty good reads, I love reading and making time to read is relaxing
  • The ability to cut my hair and change it up a little once in awhile
  • An understanding boy who farms his life away to make a better future for us
  • The wind for pushing those stormy clouds away from us
  • The harvest season for going well thus far, no hiccups or bumps in our road **knock on wood**
  • Some sweet new slippers to keep my toes warm at work, these are going to stay at my office since I almost always run around without shoes on while at work (they're leopard with sequence, best combo ever!!!)
  • The oh so kind birthday wishes from friends and family members on my "special day"
