Weekend Review

This past weekend was a complete blur for me! I was on vacation in Washington DC and New York City for eight days and I really haven't completely gotten my life back into "normal mode" quite yet. 

We flew back into Omaha on Saturday and arrived at the airport around 11 pm. Thankfully Travis was a trooper and dropped us of f and picked us up without having to pay the $3.50/mile taxi rate we were used to in DC. The entire trip back I'm pretty sure the only reason he was able to stay awake was because I continuously talked his ear off. Poor dude was ready for some late night quiet time and I was ready for a gab sesh explaining all the sights and sounds of the past week's events.

Sunday was filled with family time. Travis' parents hosted an early Easter dinner and invited my parents along to eat with us. The ham, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, rolls and dessert salad were amazing. Well, food in general is just amazing. I'm so grateful we were lucky enough to spend some time together with both sets of parents. We really are blessed to have to amazing families that not only support our relationship but also are amazing role models to look at for relationship advice.

This week sounds like the weather will be warming up and I'm more than excited to see all the fun new spring earth come to life. I cannot wait to get back outside to focus on running along with doing more photography sessions in nature again. For some reason I'm just always an outdoor type of person and winter always makes me feel trapped! Good bye ol man winter, please stop dropping those tiny flakes of frozen sadness on our lawn and sunshine please take his place!

Cruisin & Slamming Milkshakes Like A Rockstar

That's it, that's all I said when I posted this on Facebook. I was hoping to get outrageous amounts of hilarious answers but instead, here's a little review of what I all got:

And she knows how I felt at my previous job, it felt like I worked my rear off and got nothing in return. Touche!

Ok, this one caught me completely off guard. Like legit, I'm not sure how my milkshakes bring the boys to the yard and I really don't even drink milkshakes that often but I love JoJo for picking it out! That and it's ironic I always answer "I'm lactose intolerant" to almost any/every question asked and I can keep a straight face while telling the fast food lady I don't want to super size my meal because I'm lactose intolerant...

Ya, she's 100% correct. And in turn, I can say that this song always reminds me of her. I can remember us "cruising" in Houston while little miss H was in the back seat singing it with us. Every time I hear this song I giggle and think of how much I miss the Zoubek's. My ringtone is set so when she calls this song is playing.

So what can we conclude from these song selections that my friends picked?

We can conclude that my friends think I drink a lot of milkshakes, I like to party hard core, I really hate my nine to five job (or used to) and that I'm a cruiser down the back roads.... Yup, they're pretty close! ;)

50 Books From 50 States

I'm still on vacation! I'm probably enjoying Virginia Beach or something super cool like that, if you're really interested go check out my Instagram feed, there's 110% chance I've already posted a dozen pictures of my adventures.

But, since you're not ready to hear my recap instead you'll get to see what my biggest and latest plan is for reading instead! And... GO!

This year I want to broaden my word vocabulary and the simplest way to do that is to dig my nose into more books! I've really learned to appreciate reading and in my free time I like relaxing and getting lost in a good book so I figured why not participate in this neat theory of a challenge. I wanted to create a challenge that give me something to accomplish and really diversify what I'm reading about! So, I created this fun little book club that gives me a book from each state. Sometimes the author is from that state but for most of the books I really want the book to take place in that state, to really give me details of a specific scene in each state. So, I created the 50 books from 50 states idea! Some bloggers try to complete this task in a year but I'm not sure fifty books in a year is quite manageable for me with my busy schedule so I've chosen to throw away that rule and just focus on completing it in my free time.
Here's my list, I will actually update it whenever I complete another book and I'd love for you to join in with me and make up your own list! For now I'm going to add a few books to my list from states if I find one that I want to read and the books I've read I will put the finished dates by them.

StrideBox Reivew

I've been subscribed to StrideBox for several months now and I love them. All my friends are subscribed to those cute little make-up box subscriptions and I'm over here getting cool shoe laces, muscle gels and energy shots. For me they're fun, and I'm obviously in love with running and since that's what StrideBox is all about it's a perfect fit for me.

This month's box was cute because it was of course St. Patty's Day themed. Now, most of you long-time readers know that I'm 100% pure-blood (Harry Potter fans get that one?) Czech and darn proud of it. I don't go over board on the green holiday but I do like to see all the cute decorations and friends who celebrate.

I'm always surprised with how many products are included in the box. Some months are less than others but you get bigger sizes, or more non-consumable products. This months was no let-down with as many goodies as they had you'd think I could survive off of just my box for a few days ;)

1. Skin Strong slather anti chafing cream. Subtle cooling formula protects against chafing and hot spots. Can be used before to prevent chafing or to moisturize after your run. Well, this is another one that will go into my gym bag because I never have needed chafing cream. Call me lucky or weird but I've never ran to the point of peeling off my own skin. I guess it's just a talent I have! These are listed as costing $12.99 for a 6 oz tube.

2. GU Energy Brew in lemon lime. It says that it features a 2:1 ratio of complex to simple carbohydrates, and a mildly sweet flavor that will keep you going through most runs. I was thrilled to test this out because the GU brand is big but also because I like drink mixes. They can't really taste terrible unless they're way sour but if that's the case I'll just add some sugar if needed ;) This one didn't need sugar, it tasted similar to Gatorade actually so I didn't mind. Normally I just grab a Gatorade (blue flavor if you really care) and call it good so it's nice to try different things once in awhile. Highly suggest you order some of these pups for yourself though. These are listed as costing $32 for 16 packets.

3. Fluid Recovery Drink Mix in Chocolate Wave. It's made from 100% natural ingredients, it claims it's great tasting and contains complex carbohydrates to restore muscle energy levels. Ok, weird again... I've already todl you chocolate stuff isn't my love, especially when it's for a fitness type product. It's all nasty and chalky tasting so I was nervous about this stuff! Like seriously, who makes chocolate recovery stuff?! It was ok. Just ok. These are listed as costing $2.49 a packet.

4. Hylands Bioplasma Sport with Electrolytes. This stuff was weird! It's developed to dissolve instantly on your tongue, or in water whichever you choose. It says to use it to maintain a healthy and proper cell mineral balance. My interpretation is that it replaces stuff you loose while running. I quite honestly can't give you a review on it because I haven't used it yet. I figured come closer to a long distance run I'll actually use it. Until then, it'll sit in my gym bag full of other products I'm too scared to try. These are listed as costing $13.39 for 12 packets.

5. Honey Stinger Protein Bar in dark chocolate cherry almond. This sucker I was the most worried about I think. Mostly because I'm NOT a major cherry lover. I mean, artificial cherry to me tastes really gross so I was worried. Turns out, it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I think the dark chocolate covered the yucky taste of the cherry but I could for sure still taste it. Just a little more subtle. These are listed as costing $34.35 for 15 bars.

6. GU Energy Gel in salted caramel. I have never loved a GU I've tasted yet, but I've always been stuck with mocha, chocolate or vanilla ones. I was really wanting to love this flavor just because I've heard so many amazing things about GU products but yet again was disappointed. I looked online at their "store" and found some good flavors, why can't they mail me ones like strawberry banana or lemon sublime or even triberry?! Why for the love of running (because I really do love running) can't I get something better tasting?! These are listed as costing $34.80 for 24 packets.

7. Lenny & Larry's Fit Protein Brownie in Peanut Butter Crunch. Um, hello chocolate and peanut butter, we're besties and I could not wait to devour you!! I was loving this and secretly wished they'd sent two or three of them because they were so good. Most fitness/protein bars taste disgusting but this one really tasted tolerable. The fact that it's 190 calories scared me a little but what's a couple extra calories when I'm out running? I earned those calories is the way I look at it!! These are listed as costing $23.88 for 12 brownies.

8. Stash Sport Lace Locker. These were nifty. Just nifty. I really don't think I'd ever use them mostly because I feel like a dork with them but the concept it just awesome and it's a neat little gadget for the nerd in me. They're simple to use and I'll more than likely add them to my older shoes to test out for a few runs. The only thing I disliked is that you have to take off your entire shoe to add them. Other than that, great idea and great for runners that can't tie good double knots! These are listed as costing $7.95 a pair.

For $15 a month the nasty things I get stuck with don't outweigh the amount of products I discover and love. I do have a few that don't get used but it's nice to see new products that I'd never purchase for myself and I love the fact that it's always something new and different. I really love this box and will continue to love it as I'm planning on staying subscribed forever :)


Oh, and I've decided I'm going on a vacation. I have a lot of guilt/anger built up about this decision but I've made it and I need to be happy about it. Tonight I leave at 3am to fly to Virginia. I'm going with my sister and her boyfriend. We're doing some touristy stuff and just hanging out until next Saturday. It'll be fun! But I think what I'm more excited about is I'm going to have the chance to meet a blog friend in real life and prove that +Rachel S. from Rachel's Country Roots is real and I can prove to my friends that my blog friends aren't stars of the reality show Cat Fish. This might be an amazing trip and even though I'm sad about the drama going on around the event I know the minute I see her it'll all be worth it :)

April Running Playlist -Pop Hits-

Have you ever plugged in your iPod and whined about the music you've downloaded to it? 
Or have you ever turned on your favorite Pandora station only to be annoyed while running because every song they play on your good channel is dumb and you've already used all your skips for the hour? 

YES! I have too, so I decided to make you a playlist to give you ideas on good tunes for your running. I've created some playlists and would love to continue to add new playlists each month to really keep your workout lists moving and not too repetitive. 

Each list has about fifteen songs which give you a solid 30-45 minute workout session. I tried to get them all to have a good steady beat because us runners naturally pace ourselves according to what we're listening too. I love them because I can set it up to be exactly 35 minutes, when the playlist is finished I know I've ran close to my three miles I planned.

So what did you think? Are some of my songs on your list? Some you absolutely hate and would skip over not even ten seconds into the song! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Vacation Recap ((7 states in 6 days))

Well I'm home and ready to give you guys a quick summary of how amazing my trip was! Like my title says, we hit up SEVEN states in just SIX days. Oh it was so fun, we spent the entire time laughing and finding so many important things to talk about!

Alright so first off I'm going to give you a quick Instagram re-cap of what I was updating everyone with and then I'll break it down and give you some amazing camera quality pictures to really feast your eyes on!

1. Deuces 22 county, this girls off on vacation for awhile. I'm so glad I'll miss this round of snow and will be soakin in the warm weather in Texas soon! 7. Shades and flip flops on, I think Texas is slowly taking a piece of my heart everyday, I really do love it here! West Texas area and the Czech culture will be reminding me of home in 14 short miles!

8. It was SO CUTE!! We grabbed a dozen kolache and toured the small shops. I love finding anything that has to do with my heritage and this small town of West is amazing! A taste of home over 600 miles away, that's just awesome! #CzechItOut #WestTexas

9. We've arrived at our destination and I received big hugs from the kiddos! Eeek! So excited to spend the next couple days with them playing!!

10. Did a little running while down here in Texas, 70 degree weather is perfect for shorts and a tank! The others took the bikes out while I jogged. Notice my route, I think we hit up every street in the neighborhood!! I LOVE it out here, I'm really content not coming home for awhile...

11. Alright fine I'll admit the real reason I was so excited to come to Texas... To soak in the jetted tub at Tina's and hang out with these quackers! If you know about me and my Texas trips you'd remember I'm obsessed with this giant tub when its filled to the brim with hot water, bubbles and the jets rolling. Ahh, perfect time to relax, catch up on Pinterest, read a few blogs and dig into a book. You can find me here in a few hours with wrinkled toes and a dead phone. #IsThisRealLife #NotCominHome

12. Check out the weather difference between Nebraska and Texas. Ahh, love it here :)

13. Ending the awesome day in Texas by going to Chuck E Cheeses!! I loved my whole time here and I'm going to miss H and R (and T/D) but it was a complete honor to watch them be baptized and even more blessed to be their Godmother! Congrats you two littles, I cannot wait to share God's love with you guys and help you walk a faithful journey. Next stop, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri before heading home!

14. And then there was this one time when we decided to go through downtown Houston, just for the fun of it! We wanted to see the coast for a lil bit so we thought we'd embrace the traffic! #TexasTrippin

15. OMG! I was legit giddy with excitement when I saw my first live gator in its habitat!! I may have acted like a small child when I insisted we turn around so I could get a picture, totally worth it though! I love back road trips, this is the main reason we choose to do it this way :)

16. Louisiana has true cajun food folks! We decided to try out some shrimp, jambalaya and hush puppies along with onion rings. YUM!!

17. Wow, these plantation houses are straight up GORGEOUS!! I'm amazed at how big they are, and all the tiny out buildings on the plantations are pretty cute as well. History is worth the drive, seeing all of this in person has really been something I'll never forget!

18. Whataburger is totally a "just because" supper. We don't have it so we may as well indulge in junky food from different "cultures" right?! Whata-ever we'll enjoy the fast food ;)

19. Real funny Nebraska, I get home to this weather?! I left and assumed you knew you were in trouble and would fix the problem before I got back... Ahh, home sweet home. #thereisnoplacelikenebraska #welcomehome

So that pretty much sums it all up! I know fun right?! I LOVED the entire trip, not a moment was I upset about being away from Nebraska's cold weather. I really can't pick an exact moment that stood out more than spotting my alligator friend. Seriously, that hands down was the best part for me. I was so incredibly proud I found him!!
You've probably already figured out what states we all hit up but I thought I'd do a highlight of what we enjoyed the most from each state:

Nebraska- Everything obviously! I live here, so I can't give you my "happy moment" from the trip. But, I was really thrilled on the way home to see the sign welcoming me back to The Good Life state! After being in a car for 13+ hours you kind of get to a point where you're ready to just be home already.

Kansas- The Salt Mine was awesome!! I think that was so far my favorite part of Kansas. I didn't love the weather but I did love all the straight non-bumpy roads they have to offer. Kansas is always a drive-through state. We never really find a lot to do there and I don't know of a ton of "fun" things to do but the drive from the north border to the southern side into Oklahoma always seems to fly. I'm usually surprised to see we've made it through the state so quickly but if anyone has any good suggestions on must-see stops I'd love to hear them! I feel like it's a fun state that would be great to explore I just can't find anything for us to ever do!!

Oklahoma- Um, well, we didn't stop on this trip but I mentioned before that we went to the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial site and it was breath taking. Such a sobering feeling to see what happened there. Totally worth stopping at. Another reason I love Oklahoma is because it's slowly getting into cowboy country. We had intentions of stopping at the Cowboy Museum but the Salt Mine tied us up a little later than we planned so our next trip that's our first stop!

Texas- I love everything about Texas. Yes, ever. single. thing. But I'm forced to choose one highlight from the trip so I'd have to choose spending time with my Texas crew! I love them, I love everything about their minions and I miss them every time we pull out of their driveway to come home. Tina has become an extremely close friend of mine and she often knows more about me than many people. The main reason we took the trip is because her kiddos, H and R, were being baptized and I was asked to be their sponsor. Heck to the double yes I'd love to be their sponsor and show them God's love! Another fun highlight of the trip in Texas was stopping at West, TX for a little touristy moment. We tried out their Czech food, walked around their tiny shops and even bought some kolache to taste. It was nice to feel like we were in my hometown of Wilber yet we weren't even in the same state! So many kind people in that town, deff worth the stop!!

Louisiana- Seeing my very first gator!! I was thrilled to find him on the side of the road and although it was a busy highway I forced Travie to turn around and pull over for me. Best memory from the trip hands down I'm pretty sure! I'm not sure why I was so in love with wanting to see an alligator, maybe because we watch Swamp People all the time, maybe because I laugh at Shelby Stanga when I see him on Ax Man but it was so intriguing and it's something I've never experienced before! The entire swampy area, the cajun food, the southern way of life, I loved it all and I'm honestly longing to go spend a week there just driving around and learning more about their history! Oh, and the plantation's. We cannot forget those! That might have been my second favorite part of the trip. But sadly, they were all closed as we cruised by them. I was a little disappointed but that just gives me an excuse to go back down there during business hours and spend a little more time in the area I long to learn more about ;)

Arkansas- Um, the random "hillbilly" houses I guess? I was really surprised to see that a lot of the people living on the side roads actually just threw their trash in their yard instead of into a garbage can. I understand that cardboard eventually breaks down but I guess I'm just used to throwing it away and burning our trash. We're all raised differently and I know certain areas of Nebraska don't really care about what their yard looks like either but it just amazed me! That or the thousands of acres of logging we saw. I was very surprised with how many trucks were loaded with logs heading to lumber yards to be cut. I really never realized how full of trees AR was until we really stopped to look.

Missouri- Uh? It was dark most of the trip, so I really can't pick out a favorite spot... Plus, I've been to Missouri so many times I really have to say Kansas City is my favorite. The busy streets, the insane amount of diversity. Just interesting to a small town gal like me ;) 

After writing up this review and looking through our pictures it has be starving to leave the flat state of Nebraska and live out of a bag for a few weeks again! Which of my blog buds is ready to let me live with them for a day or two? I'd love to come visit you guys and see more of the US! I promise I don't snore, and I even clean up after myself ;)

Weekend Review ((Giveaway Too!))

And now for the part where you find out what I did this weekend.

Anymore I think my weekends blur in with the weekdays, but this weekend was filled with farm sales, family and friends time, polka playing, and grilling. All packed into less than seventy-two hours!? I'm not even sure it was possible but we did it!

The first two pictures are from Friday's fun festivities of picking up all of our electric fence. It's time for the cows to come off the stalks and prepping the ground for the upcoming planting season. I kept making up awesome jokes, one included: "My comedic moment while picking up fence: Look a drunk post! As in drunk post on fbook except in real life and on the farm.. ya ok, it was funny to me" Are you still giving me that dumb look? Fine! You just don't get it!! The other one said: "Wait! Wait! It gets better! What's this quacker doin out here?! Seriously, when did I get so funny?!" Ya, I'm probably going to start selling tickets because I'm a hoot and what-not.

The second row of pictures is of accordions and my favorite accordion player! My daddy!! He is my inspiration and as I've grown older I've really come to admire his talent and musical abilities. I still cannot believe he's taught himself how to play pretty much any instrument imaginable. We were having a little accordion jamboree this weekend when a few friends came down to visit. So. Much. Fun.

And the bottom row of pictures is of Sunday Funday. We went on a quick walk after I poked boy for awhile then we grilled out! Bacon cheeseburgers with bacon wrapped jalepenos filled with cream cheese. It was yummy! I don't even regret a single calorie! 

This week I'm back to focusing on healthy eating, attempting to bring in a few bucks and really trying to find my inner happiness that has seemed to disappear lately. I hope everyone is having a great Monday, wearing green and trying to avoid those dang leprechauns! They're freakin everywhere ;)

Weekend Review

I had a great weekend!! I'm not even kidding as sad as I really am on the inside, I'm beginning to see tiny details of "happiness" in my life again. I may not have planned on being "retired" for the past 3.5 months but I guess being retired means I have time to really focus on myself and learn about what makes me "me." 
This past weekend was spent with family and friends and I don't regret a second of it. I know I quite often say I spend time with family or friends but this weekend was proof of why I choose to surround myself with them.
So a quick little trip to explain my busy weekend:
Thursday started off by spending the day with my fav photog buddy Amanda. We went out for lunch and then did a mini roadtrip around our area to spot out some new photography scenes for upcoming shoots. She has an eye for amazing sites and I have the knowledge of whose ground is what. It just works for us.

Then it was time to show quick and head up to Lincoln to get ready with my sister for the MILEY CYRUS CONCERT!! #dontjudge but it was amazing and totally worth freezing my butt off to look super cute. I of course woke Travie up to take a picture of me when I got home around 1ish. It was so much fun to spend the evening with my sister, getting dolled up and acting like a teen again. I really do miss spending time with her, we've really grown closer over the years! I can't really pinpoint an exact fav moment in the concert, but seeing her slide down her GIANT TONGUE was pretty nifty. Oh, yes, now I remember. My all time FAVORITE part was when she sang Jolene by Dolly Parton!! If you didn't already know this, Dolly is Miley's Godmother so I was thrilled to hear her sing one of Dolly's songs :)

Friday evening was the Czech Kick-Off. I look forward to it every year and each year brings new memories and funny moments. This year we had a guy running for a political party show up, oh my funny times! We were laughing so hard we were crying when we embarrassed him cause he belt buckle popped off! Super nice guy and great to see a Republican running but just too funny.

Saturday was an evening of I Love Lucy with the boy. I printed off the info sheet from the Lied Center and then added a little note in pink pen that read "I wouldn't even be sad if you took me to this" and taped it in the entryway. After I showed it to him (because he of course didn't see it) he laughed and didn't say much more. Later in the week he asked if I still wanted to go. I was so excited to see Lucy that the day couldn't come soon enough!! We had a "romantic" supper of Arby's and then quickly walked over to find our seats. The show was AMAZING folks! Like I loved every second of it, I really wasn't in love with the actors because they weren't exact but once I got over that it was fun. Afterwards we stopped to grab some ice cream and visited my sister. Then, while on the way home Trav asked if we could stop and get more ice cream in Crete. I guess he loves his dairy products?! What a wonderful evening spending time together, I think that's our first "date" we've ever really been on too?!

Sunday was filled with helping at photoshoots and working on setting up a landlords sale. I also finished those two photoshoots to come home to the cattle pushing the bale feeder way out of the way and stretching the fence. A farmers work is never done and since Travie wasn't around I had to fix it myself. I'm not quite strong enough to stretch the fence all the way back so I just waited and fixed what I could until Trav came home to help finish it up. While waiting for the boy I had a little time to kick back and relax in my hammock! Ahh, I loved it and cannot wait to spend the summer in there :)

My weekend was just perfect, busy but action packed with my family and friends. I don't mind relaxing a little but time spent with buddies is always worth it :)

So I saw Megan over at Semi Charmed Life she does this, I just loved it so much I wanted to do my own spin on it!! I'm going to borrow a few of her categories and add a few of my own to the mix. Also, something I've created is my monthly photo a day! I didn't really WANT to do this at first but then I found this awesome calendar idea and decided to re-create it with Photoshop. I didn't really plan on doing it before so I realize that some of February is missing their pictures. I'll try harder from here on out though! It is a little time consuming but it'll be worth it when I can create a book at the end of the year with these. To get you up to date I'm going to post January's photo a day too.

30 Miles In 30 Days - February

Goodbye February and your chilly weather, hello March and let's bank on your warming up a bit more!

Something I'd like to really point out is I just updated my Running tab up at the top right, yes, I finally posted what my 2014 race schedule will consist of! Do you have any suggestions on races I should participate in around the area?! I'd love to get your input and also if you have any bomb races that should be added to my bucket list please tell me!!

Going to take this advice for the month of March...

I'm once again disappointed to report that I didn't compete in a race this month. I've already listed my Running Goals for 2014 and I told you guys I wanted to continue doing a 5k every month but for some reason I just wasn't on the ball and didn't find any races to run these past month two months. I'm going to have to catch up and run two races later in the year to make up for lost time! I really want to focus on distance training so I can run a 10k here before May. Setting the bar and pushing myself once the weather gets nicer will hopefully help me to achieve this goal.


Ugh! Suck, suck suuuuck! I seriously SUCK at hitting my thirty miles these past few months and it's really getting under my skin! What's even worse is that if you look at how many times I got outside and ran even if you don't know me in real life you can still admit you're disappointed in me! Womp, wooomp, faaail!

Alright, so looking at that you really don't need me to calculate it up but last month I ran exactly 3.46 miles.

Straight up embarrassing to have to post TWO activities, but that's life. Sometimes living in Nebraska has its disadvantages. And of those miles the 2.46 mile run was ran in Texas actually. So that's why it was a decent run, because the weather was in the sixties and I had Travie and Haisley with me. They rode bikes while I jogged. And if we want to get really technical I did walk an extra half mile before that run. We took the kiddos out with bikes and the puppy.

That's it, those are my stats. I didn't even log enough calories burned to even get rid of the beers I drank last Friday night. Sad, sad day. 


1. Did a little running while down here in Texas, 70 degree weather is perfect for shorts and a tank! The others took the bikes out while I jogged. Notice my route, I think we hit up every street in the neighborhood!! I LOVE it out here, I'm really content on not coming home for awhile...

2. #runnerprobs of the day consist of wearing my armband too much that I tore the velcro off. It'll be an easy fix but I'm glad my new bright pink one came in the mail last week. On another note, the sunset was gorgeous this evening and the cows need to learn their manners. Staring at people is just plain rude and the whole herd just couldn't stop staring!


Something new to add to my list! Being part of Scentsy isn't just about selling great products but it's part of being in the Scentsy Family. As with all families you want to encourage each other to live a healthy lifestyle, Scentsy's no different! They've asked the consultants to log 100 miles, I'm excited for this challenge and I cannot wait to add more little stickers and fill up my sheet. Here's the start from February.
